Bosphorus Chicken Kebab with Buttered rice!

It was around mid-morning when I already felt starving because I ran to catch up with my log-in time at work. I felt drained afterward, yet I was still a few minutes late. Moving forward, I want to have a soothing and filling lunch to replace the calories that I burned earlier, lol. There are plenty of options that I’m looking at right now that I want to try. Whenever I want something heavy or filling then I will go for a dish that is a good pair with a bowl of rice.

The type of cuisine doesn’t matter for as long as it’s rice. I decided to go for the Middle Eastern food stall at Golden Mile Food Center.

I think the Kebab rice that they serve is one of the best and it’s also affordable. I’m not familiar with Middle Eastern cuisine but my impression of this dish already tells me that it’s a cuisine with big flavours. It’s not particularly spicy but this one has enough “heat” that will make me want to crave more. I’m not a fan of spicy food because my tolerance level is not so high however, with the right amount of “spice” then it will be something that I will enjoy.

I often eat Chinese, Malay, Indian, & Thai food for lunch so this Kebab Rice is an interesting break from the monotony of my choices when it comes to food. I especially like Chinese food for the subtlety of the flavors and cooking techniques. Malay & Indian food will be my choice whenever I want to eat something with knock-out flavor and a strong complex taste. I also like Thai food because of the unique flavors and bold punchy taste as well.

Among these cuisines, I think that Middle Eastern cuisine sits at the center among the cuisines that I mentioned. The cooking technique is also subtle but because of the richness of the rice and sauces then it results in a kind of flavor and taste that has character as well. There is also an interesting showmanship when it comes to the cooking technique. A huge pile of meat on a huge vertical skewer that is being grilled on the side by fire looks like a feast as my eyes light up.

It’s one of the best experiences that I could ever have here in Singapore’s multi-racial food scene!
