A lunch experience at Foodies' Clan at the New Technopark
A while ago, I decided to go to the New Techpark to see if I could find any interesting techie gadgets over there and it turns out that there is nothing that I need from there. In order not to waste any time commuting to that place, I went on a stroll around the complex to see if there was a place for me to sit down, rest for a bit, and then take my lunch. And then I found the Foodie's Clan which is almost hidden from the view from any of the major corridors of the building.
The New Techpark building is the redeveloped version of the 1980s commercial building that is located in the Lorong Chuan area. From the MRT station, it will take a minute to cross the pedestrian crossing and get to where I took this photo.
I think that the exterior of the building looks simple yet innovative, and the design fits well with the name New Techpark.
As soon as I entered the building, I was immediately welcomed by the commercial and the F&B shops. I was expecting a lobby or an atrium but since it's an old building that was renovated then it's less likely that it will have those kinds of amenities.
The interior features a trendy commercial or a shopping mall vibe with its modern ceiling design and stylish flooring material.
Although the restaurants on the ground floor look appetizing, I prefer to check on the food court that they have in this place. I found the escalator with the sign that says to the food court so I simply followed the directions.
As soon as I reached the upper level, I noticed a door that led to a garden on the right. I think it's so cool that they will dedicate a big portion of the floor area to give way to a nice garden like this.
After a 5-minute stroll along the winding walkway of the garden, I decided to look for the food court because I was already starving. I found this stylish entrance that says Foodies' Clan. The design is so impressive that I initially thought of this place as a restaurant.
Once I entered the food court I felt the familiar environment of a typical food court with the exemption that this is a better looking one.
The three sides of the whole space are enclosed but there is one part of it that showcases the external garden. The tables that have the view are all taken so I simply went to an empty table that still has a glimpse of the garden. I feel that my appetite for food is so much better when I have a view of nature near me, so it's now time to eat!
Here's what I ordered for my lunch.
I got this from the mixed rice stall and the staff who assisted in taking my order has done a great job in plating the dishes around the rice. Usually, many people (especially the ones who worked in this stall) don't pay attention to properly plating the dishes. I'm impressed with the service that I got from this place.
On this plate, I have the thigh part of a chicken that is stewed in soy sauce, a serving of stir-fried cabbage, and a sauteed eggplant.
It may sound fake but among the dishes that I ordered, the eggplant is my favorite. Although an eggplant tends to taste bland or flavorless in the hands of a good chef it can turn into a tasty dish. It was cooked perfectly and the texture feels nice. The flavor comes from the dried shrimp that I tasted while eating this dish. I think I could eat 3 servings of this dish and ignore the rest on this plate. I just like the recipe for this sauteed eggplant.
After finishing my lunch, I decided to head back home and will probably rest.
Before I exited the Foodies' Clan, I noticed a creative-looking set of tables and chairs with signages that said...
"Life is Good."
"Beauty is the eye of the holder."
I think it's kind of funny and clever at the same time.
So, that's it for today's lunch.
Yay! 🤗
