What Does Kindness Means To Me?

Hello there! Welcome back to my blog.🥰❤

Allows me to say a big thank you to @dreemsteem and to @gregscloud for this amazing collaboration in the Kindness community
The world can always do with a little bit more kindness, so this March we are spreading the word about this amazing quality as much as we can.

What does kindness mean to me?

For someone who grew up in a world largely divided between tribes, religions, clans, and gender lines, but also very fortunate to have parents who could see beyond all those lines, and chose humanity instead.

They instilled in me how to show kindness to myself and to everyone who crosses my path.

Growing up I watched my parents on too many occasions to count, allowing total strangers who were traveling to shelters in our home and feeding them as long as they needed for them to rest and then continue their journey.

My parents never cared about their religion, tribes, or languages. All that they cared about was if they are good people then they are welcome to stay.

One day I was talking about my school friends to another friend from the same belief as mine after I kept on talking and talking, I was just around fifteen then, you know how a girl that age will love to talk about their school friends at home, so this friend of mine from my religious beliefs system asked me, "these friends of yours, are they the same religious as ours?" Like that was all that mattered to her.

My eyes flared up, I looked at her and said no, "they are from the other religion" but they are good people, and she said,

"can't you make friends with people from our religion instead of them?"

Then I told her, I wasn't raised that way, my parents never cared which religion someone belonged to, all that mattered to them was that they should be good people.

That is how I was taught to relate to and treat people.

Just have a good heart, and we could be friends, no matter where you come from.

I told her, "These friends of mine, from my schools, had shown me nothing but kindness and the least I could do was to be friends with them.

During my first year in college, like most introverts, that cherished their alone time and sometimes loved to live alone.

I don't want to stay in the school hostel, due to how the place is always crowded with roommates, so I chose to stay off campus, by renting my apartment.

The plan was for me to stay alone, but three ladies were introduced to me by a friend, the three of them got their admission a little bit late and couldn't get a conducive hostel room to stay. None could afford accommodation off campus.

They begged me to allow them to stay with me for one year, and I did not hesitate to let them move in with me. Mostly because they look like decent girls from well-trained homes. I only told them that as long as they will not distract me from studying hard until my brain hurts they are welcome to be my roomy.

Of course I called my parents to tell them the whole thing, even when I knew what their answers would be, all they said was if they are good girls then let them stay with you.

To me, kindness is seeing people beyond their religion, color of skin, gender, and all the division there is. Kindness is spreading a helping hand to others in need, not because we want something in return but because that is the right way to live.

Kindness is spreading love and good vibes to ourselves and those around us.

Kindness is choosing to speak kindly to others, even when we are angry. Because we know that our words are powerful, they make or make someone.

If we can at least put ourselves in the position of others when we relate with them, and treat them with empathy, this world will be an amazing place.

Showing kindness to others doesn't even have to be difficult at all.

Telling someone Some simple words of encouragement can go a long way in making their day, you never can tell what someone is going through on the inside, so we show kindness by choosing our words carefully.

Start from home

Start showing kindness from our home, we should start by appreciating our spouses by complimenting their efforts, it will boost their morale and make them feel valued.

Show kindness to our kids. Treating those around us with kindness in the presence of our kids will automatically sow a seed of kindness into them and they will grow up with it to become a good human being.

Kindness is like planting a seed, it will always sprout and no matter where we go, it will always come back to us.

Thank you very much for visiting my blog as a show of love and kindness, I wish you a great day.
@funshee🥰🙏

You are very correct. Kindness comes from deep within. All those barriers the world creates are only a veil to stop us from pouring out the goodness of our hearts. I'm glad you caught on early enough with your parents.

Well done

Thank you Lady Kei2, we were born with kindness in our hearts, and sometimes the world we find ourselves in will try to teach us otherwise but we must let our kind hearts live on.

Wow, amazing thought about kindness. I must say that you had a solid foundation from your parents about the what kindness is all about; I admire such traits from your parents. They have been demonstrating it in your presence and it's amazing how it has become part of you. Kindness shouldn't differentiate between gender or religious or skin colour,. Just show kindness to people regardless just as you welcomed those three ladies in campus, so nice of you. Through our words, good deeds, we can keep showing kindness to people and putting smiles on their faces .

Always a #dreemerforlife

Thank you, my sweet mummy of hive.

Yes, we should be kind to everyone regardless of who they are.

That was nice. Discrimination shouldn't be found when one ought to show kindness. Although some individuals have made one not to be kind due to what they experience, that still shouldn't stop us from contributing our quota to make someone happy.

I popped in here through #dreemport

Thank you, Princess, my lovely #dreemport guide for the month.

Yeah, some selfish people won't even appreciate a kind heart from others, but that is on them, that should not stop one from being kind.

“My parents never cared which religion someone belonged to, all that mattered to them was that they should be good people”
Your parents sound like wonderful people. It really should not matter about such things, if a person is loving and has a good heart, that is all you need to know.

“To me, kindness is seeing people beyond their religion, color of skin, gender, and all the division there is”
Right! We have more in common with one another,m than we do not is what I say.

“Telling someone Some simple words of encouragement can go a long way in making their day”
Words are very powerful things, I have lost family over words, who decided to take their own lives.

Thank you so much for sharing this blog post.

Nice post being kind to people or neighbors around you promote peace and tolerance no matter the differences either your religion, tribe and clan. But out of ignorance some turn back at you when shows too much kindness and love but don't change the good attitude towards them. Your reward await you.

Some selfish people might never acknowledge our kindness but that should not stop us from being kind. Sometimes our kind heart might even change a selfish person's heart, we never can tell. !LUV
