My Inspiration; My Hero - Ladies on Hive Contest #222

On my part, I would choose the second question that states: "Who was your role model growing up?"

The question was very inspiring because it reminisced the moments that you were together with the person who inspired you to be better. As the line of the song says "memories bring back memories bring back yow". I don't know if I have heard it correctly. :)

A little background of myself, my father died at a young age. I was six years old way back then. My father has only one sibling and that's Tita Alice in Wonderland. Before my father died, he talked to my aunt requested to take care of me and send me to college. It happened all the way. :)

Maybe I shared my background here in my into blog on how I get to college. Anyways, let's go back to our main topic which is: Who was my role model growing up?

I would answer this directly that it was my cousin ate Kath. She served to me as my role model growing up because of her selfless attitude.

I remembered in my high school days that our Filipino teacher asked us to pass our portfolio output entitled "Sino ang Hinahangaan Mong Tao?" I wrote back then was Ate Kath still.

She was my role because of so many things and reasons. I was in Grade five when I lived in their house. I learned compassion because of her the way she treated me. As if I was one of her younger sisters. She was the eldest in the family with two boys and two girls. She helped in the household chores. It was not given to me all the chores in the house. She made sure my that my other cousins had something to do it also to divide the tasks in the house. I really appreciate those times. It will nerver be erased in my my memory. It was imprinted in my heart already.

I admired her on how she becomes the co-provider of her family. She helped her in sustaining the education of her siblings until the youngest one. She also helped financially to her fatjer in pursuing Masters Educarion.

I was in awe hearing the conversation of Ate Kath and my aunt during the financial crisis that time.

I was in fourth year college and mmthe youngest sister was in second year college taking up the BS-Tourism in San Carlos University. I had heard (not my intention to hear their argument) that my aunt wanted me to stop for my college so that the youngest can continue her schooling. Ate Kath rejected the idea instead she responded to her mother in my dialect "Naunsa, 4th year na nuon na si Carla. Paundangon nuon. Mang loan ra ko." She wanted me to finish college really. Upon hearing those words, my heart melted and I can't recall if my tears were flowing that time. Isn't it amazing?

She strongly suggested that I would enrol in University over a Public College so that I could try a different environment even though it a Public one but it's a University for the reason that I enrolled in Public Elementary and Secondary Schools in Cordova. I was happy back then.

Today, I am successful by God's love and mercy. Ate Kath and I are employed in the same agency and deployed in the same school.

Education is the highest gift I have received from them. I will be forever grateful to that! To all the students here in hive: Be brave and courageous enough to pursue your studies for a bigger avenues to be an instrument of blessings to others.
