Hi guys,

I'm excited to participate in today's #wednesdaywalk challenge.

I could have wandering around aimlessly around my neighborhood for the article, but I chose a visit to the zoo from a few weeks ago as my subject.

As a child, I used to go to the zoo often and enjoyed it, but as an adult, somehow I never get around to it anymore. The last time must have been at least 15 years ago. And since I quite enjoy walking or cycling and the zoo is occasionally in my line of sight on some of my routes, I treated myself to an annual pass this year.

When I used to go to the zoo with my parents or grandparents, the goal was always to see as much as possible, and it was disappointing if we couldn't see our favorite animals.

With the annual pass, I can leisurely stroll around or simply make a quick visit to the animals, and the price remains the same. I've already had my first visit, as you can probably tell from the article.

We went early on purpose to enjoy some peace during our first visit after such a long time. In Germany, it was still relatively chilly at that time, and the Easter holidays had just ended, so we hoped to have the animals mostly to ourselves, but we were sorely mistaken.

The zoo had probably distributed free tickets to various schools for the start of the trimester because when we arrived, there were already hundreds of small and big children waiting at the 4 entrance gates.

The noise and the jostling crowd at the most scenic viewpoints were a bit annoying, but after the initial shock, we could still appreciate the animals we wanted to see that day.

We didn't see everything by far because, as I mentioned, when you can visit the zoo throughout the year, there's no need to rush on the first day.

I captured the most beautiful impressions for you. The meerkats particularly caught my attention. Whenever a documentary about meerkats is on TV, I regularly get hooked, and in the zoo, we stayed for about ten to fifteen minutes, observing the social behavior of these cute and curious creatures.

After about an hour and a half, we called it a day because it was getting more crowded by the minute, and the spring sun wanted to show us that it was still to be reckoned with after months of cold and wet weather.
We were satisfied, and I'm already looking forward to the next visit.

The meerkats were always on the lookout, yet very curious whenever a new person appeared.

I cannot identify the birds in these photos. All these exotic names meant nothing to me. They must be a type of parrot species.

The pelicans are so friendly that you can even touch them (which is allowed. Normally, their enclosure is accessible, but not on that day).

We apparently interrupted a romantic moment for the ostrich couple. Once we realized we were disturbing them, we quickly moved on :O).

When I see chimpanzees, orangutans, and gorillas behind glass or bars, I always have a strange feeling. I feel that it's wrong to confine these animals, who are so similar to us, even if they receive good treatment, as is the case at the Hannover Zoo.

bei der heutigen #wednesdaywalk Challenge bin ich endlich auch einmal dabei.

Um nicht ziellos um meinen Kize zu vagabundieren, habe ich mir einen Zoobesuch vor ein paar Wochen als Sujet ausgesucht.

Ich bin als Kind gerne und oft in den Zoo gegangen, doch als Erwachsener kommt man irgendwie nicht mehr dazu. Das letzte Mal ist bestimmt 15 Jahre her. Und da ich ziemlich gerne spazieren gehe oder Fahrrad fahre, der Zoo auf einigen meiner Strecken immer mal wieder in mein Blickfeld gerät, habe ich mir in diesem Jahr eine Jahreskarte gegönnt.

Als ich früher mit meinen Eltern oder Großeltern in den Zoo gegangen bin, hatte man immer das Ziel, möglichst alles zu sehen und war enttäuscht, wenn man das ein oder andere Lieblingstier nicht sehen konnte.

Mit der Jahreskarte kann ich ausgiebig flanieren, oder den Tieren auch nur eine
Stippvisite abstatten, der Preis bleibt gleich.
Den ersten Besuch habe ich - wie man sich anhand des Artikels denken kann, bereits hinter mir.

Wir sind extra früh hingefahren, um beim ersten Besuch nach so langer Zeit etwas die Ruhe genießen zu können.
In Deutschland war es zu diesem Zeitpunkt auch noch relativ frisch und die Osterferien waren grad zu Ende, so dass wir hoffen konnten, die Tiere wirklich fast für uns zu haben, doch da hatten wir uns geirrt.

Wahrscheinlich hatte der Zoo Freikarten an diverse Schulen zum Schulbeginn verteilt, denn als wir ankamen, standen bereits hunderte von kleinen und großen Kindern an den 4 Eingangsschleusen.

Die Geräuschkulisse und das Drängeln an den schönsten Aussichtspunkten war etwas nervig, aber nach dem ersten Schock konnten wir uns doch über die Tiere freuen, die wir uns an dem Tag ansehen wollten.

Wir haben bei weitem nicht alles gesehen, denn wie gesagt, wenn man das ganze Jahr über den Zoo besuchen kann, muss man sich nicht am ersten Tag direkt stressen.

Für euch habe ich die schönsten Impressionen eingefangen.
Die Erdmännchen haben es mir besonders angetan. Sobald eine Dokumentation im Fernsehen über Erdmännchen läuft, bleibe ich regelmäßig hängen und auch im Zoo sind wir bestimmt zehn Minuten geblieben und haben uns das Sozialverhalten dieser niedlichen und neugierigen Tierchen angesehen.

Nach circa anderthalb Stunden war dann Schluss, weil es immer voller wurde und auch die Frühlingssonne zeigen wollte, dass noch mit ihr zu rechnen sei nach den Monaten der Kälte und Nässe.

Wir waren zufrieden und ich freue mich schon auf den nächsten Besuch.

Das Vogelstrauß-Pärchen haben wir offensichtlich bei einem Schäferstündchen gestört. Wir sind schnell weitergegangen, als wir gemerkt haben, dasss wir stören :O).

Die Pelikane sind so zutraulich, dass man sie anfassen kann (was auch erlaubt ist. Normalerweise ist das Gehäge sogar zugänglich. Nur an diesem Tag nicht.)

Die Erdmännchen waren immer auf der Hut und trotzdem sehr neugierig, sobald ein neuer Mensch aufgetaucht ist.

Bei Schimpansen, Orang-Utans und Gorillas habe ich immer ein sehr komisches Gefühl, wenn ich sie hinter Glas oder Gittern sehe. Ich habe das Gefühl, dass es falsch ist, diese Tiere, die uns so ähnlich sind, einzusperren, selbst wenn sie, wie im Zoo Hannover eine wirklich gute Behandlung erfahren.

Welche Vögel hier auf den Fotos sind, kann ich nicht sagen. Diese vielen exotischen Namen haben mir alle nichts gesagt. Es müsste sich um eine Papageien-Art handeln.
