Hispaliterario 35: Algo extraordinario / Something extraordinary

María comenzó a llorar. La abuela se acercó y la abrazó. "Tranquila, mija.

Ella no entendió.

Something extraordinary

In the heart of Venezuela, where the rivers run through the villages and the sun kisses the earth with its warm embrace, is the hamlet of Soropito. A magical place, where nature weaves stories with threads of hope and the singing of animals.

In Soropito lived Maria, a girl with lively eyes and a contagious smile, whose heart was as immense as the plain itself. She loved to come and go through the secret corners of the hamlet with her litter of friends, climbing leafy trees and playing by the river, where the sand on the beach glittered like golden paths.

One day, while Maria was collecting milk from the milking parlor, she overheard her parents talking. They were worried about the drought. The passing days were making it harder to get a good harvest. The animals no longer had anything to eat, the ponds were getting drier and drier, and the rivers were only carrying a trickle of water.

Maria talked about it with her friends, who commented that in their homes they were talking about the same thing. Some said that it was the fault of a boy, others said that it was a supposed girl who had arrived. Worry began to creep over them as well.

One morning, when Maria went out to get the milk from the milking parlor, her father stopped her and told her it was not necessary. Without water and food, the beasts had no way to give milk. Maria began to cry. The grandmother came over and hugged her, “Calm down, mija. God does not abandon his children. You'll see how everything will work out. I am making my rosary to the Virgin of Coromoto, because Papa God squeezes, but does not hang”.

Maria was filled with peace, but her soul was still troubled with worries. The following week, sitting under the teak tree, her parents and grandmother began to smile. She did not understand. She lifted her gaze to the field and saw only a grayish cloud looming on the horizon, shrouding the sky in a veil of mystery. The wind began to blow strongly, shaking the branches of the trees and raising a swirl of dry leaves.

Mary, intrigued, tried to ask, but didn't get around to it. The sudden change in the weather accelerated and made everyone run into the ranch to take shelter.

Suddenly, a deafening roar broke the stillness of the camp. Maria looked up at the sky and her eyes widened. Fish! Yes, brightly colored fish with iridescent scales were falling from the sky like raindrops. Some bounced on the ground and others fluttered in the air, creating a magical spectacle she would never forget.

Maria tried to run outside, mesmerized by the rain of fish, but her grandmother hugged her, “Demos, gracias al cielo, mija” she whispered to her. There, in the safety of her beloved grandmother's arms, she watched in amazement at the miracle, wondering how such a thing could happen.

From that day on, Maria never saw a rain of fish again, but the memory of that magical day was engraved in her heart forever. And every time she looked up at the sky, she saw not only clouds and stars, but also the possibility that God would give her something extraordinary at any moment.

Wow!, that's so true, God can give us something extraordinary at any time, we have to put our trust in him and he would do it for us. Maria grandmother knows it, during the time Maria was worried, she told her not to worry that God will make a way for his children, impressive 🥰
