You wouldn’t understand
This is a post I don’t want to write.
I never wanted
but I always do,
almost compulsively
for the last six years.
The world has changed massively those years
but your memory has remained the same.
You wouldn’t understand the decadence of the human race
even if you were alive.
You were a creature of feelings, of instincts, of passion.
How could you ever understand the coldblooded atrocities
that my kind commits in the name of something,
supposedly, important.
Old men deprived from their families and friends and led into depression and despair in the name of their own good health.
Children slaughtered and decapitated in the name of some other’s right to defence.
A whole planet turned into critical condition,
species extinct one after another,
large populations suffering,
in the name of flourishing economy and progress.
What’s there to understand and why?
You are resting peacefully in the grave that I dug for you,
under the roots of the tree that I planted
to keep you company
and be fed from your decomposing flesh.
And I am here
for one more year,
editing old pictures
and remembering.
For Morpheus
October 2001 - 13 January 2018
I understand that my writing is getting more ambiguous, or even incomprehensible as the years are passing and I insist on this annual memorial. Below you can find the links to my previous posts, with all the details and many more pictures of this amazing dog that has been my companion for a large part of my life.
All the pictures and the words are mine.
Thank you for reading and if you want to know more about me you can check out my introduction post.
Commenting, upvoting and rebloging are highly appreciated!
Not ambiguous. More poetic.
And, since we're (😉) getting older, this is a beautiful thing!
Means we're not bitter and jaded!
That's a beautiful dog. I don't think we ever get over missing those who've leveled up. 💕
And Morpheus is a very good name!
You know when I was at high school I had an exam once, on the literature lesson, about a poem. I was the only student in the history of the school with a paper that was graded with 0 (zero)! So telling me that I wrote something poetic is a huge compliment :)
A beautiful dog indeed! And his name in Greek sounds very similar with the word beautiful!
Thank you so much!
Good lords and ladies school is rubbish! 😞
I'd have fired that teacher for sure!
That's a beautiful share. :) My granny was half Greek. Her name was Alex. Half Greek. Half Chinese.
Anyhoo. Have a great start to the week :D See you soon!
Now that's an interesting and rather unusual combination!
Have a nice week you too :)
what a beautiful dog, I know he will remain in your memory forever...we will never forget them... because of my dog my life is better and the joy when you come home and the dog is so happy... there is no better feeling... my it's already 12 years... I don't even want to imagine what will happen when I'm left without her...
Dogs have a unique way to bond with their humans. Not all dogs with all humans but when it happens it's magical!
I hope you'll have many more happy years with your dog!
Thank you!
❤️
🙏
the poem strikes a cord. looking at the pics one can appreciate what a beautiful being was Morpheus. You do his memory proud with your annual remembrance!
Thank you very much, I am glad you think so.
When you have the bond you two had, and one dies, the grief goes on forever. The intensity lessens with time but it’s never gone. And your beautiful photos of him are an excellent way to celebrate what you had. Beings like him are best not forgotten when they go.
Looks like you know the feeling first hand. Yes, it never goes away but it does soften.
Thank you very much!
A pretty model!
The best!
I appreciate your commitment to the annual memorial of Morpheus. What a beautiful friend in more ways than one! We just lost our 2 cats, Rachel and Castro (mother and son), in less than 3 weeks.
I'm so sorry 😢 That had to be heartbreaking...
Sorry to hear about your cats. Loss is always painful. My way of dealing with it, is this annual memorial.
Thank you!
What a smart look!
And it was not only the look :)
Υπεροχος...
Ειστε τυχεροί που ήταν στη ζωή σας
Σ'ευχαριστώ Κατερίνα, να'σαι καλά!
I'm so sorry for your loss 😢 Our furry family members live such short lives compared to us...

Yes, when a dog or a cat enters our lives, is most likely that we'll live the day that we'll have to say a painful farewell.
Thanks a lot.
Beautiful scenery, they are very beautiful friends
Thanks!
You're welcome my brother

Don't know how I missed the other posts but did check them out for a better understanding and this left me in tears. I think many people don't understand the pain until they have such a soul next to them for years and feel the gap they leave once they pass away. I'm really sorry 😔
There are times that a pet can become a very important part of our lives. Either due to the unique character of the pet or because we have invested emotionally more than the average person does. In this case it was both.
Thank you very much Gabriela.
Indeed. Take care Stef 🤗
Wow ❤️, this touched me too much, just yesterday I was remembering my cat Linda, who departed time ago, she lived 18 years. I send you a hug!
Then you know the feeling.
Thank you very much Sofia!
You had a beautiful soul as your partner, surely he will live on forever in your memory as the lovely creature I'm sure he was.
This post is very emotional and moved me a lot
Thank you very much for your kind words!

Dogs can be such a positive addition to life. We always had dogs and I live them very much. And 17 Years is a very old age for a dog that big, we had ours maybe 10 years the most.
Yes, he lived way more than expected and that was the least extraordinary about him!
Beautiful. Too tired to delve into it properly right now but keeping the tab open to try again tomorrow - in the meantime, this song is about the artist's dog having to be put to sleep. Makes me cry pretty much every time I listen. I dread the day coming for my old cat...
Lovely song. Thank you!

😢🥺😭😭
