What else could I ask for?

IMG_5452.jpg

Last week we had some rain over here, cloudy weather and even a little bit of snow on the top of the mountains, across the sea. That was enough for our Mediterranean temperament, to make us fell like we had too much of winter!

It's a joke of course, it was hardly a sample of winter but what can I say, when it comes to sunshine, we are very spoiled here, in Greece. Three cloudy days can make us feel deeply depressed :)

So today that was sunny and warm again, I didn't miss the opportunity to go for a walk by the sea! Not my usual "by the sea" walk but a bit further away!

Have I mentioned that I love the sunlight during winter?

Well I'll say it again.

I LOVE THE SUNLIGHT DURING WINTER!

When the sun is moving low on the horizon and gives a very vivid relief on the landscapes. Plus that the air can be so clear as if it doesn't exist, especially after a rain! There is no way I could take beach pictures like that in the summer. Not even early in the morning. This is a winter thing and I love it!

The name of the beach is "Karathona". It is 4 km (about 2,5 miles) from the town of Naflio (where I live) but although it is so close I didn't came, not even once, during the summer. Not that there is something wrong with it, I just prefer a lot better the other beach of the town which is 500 meters (1.600 feet) from my place. And going for a swim on foot is a luxury that I can't part with :)

After the beach I continued on a path that follows the coastline. So apart from the wonderful views of the calm sea, I also had the local flora on my side lit by the same wonderful sunlight :)

And my shadow was sooo long! Like a thin giant :)

A random mud puddle would remind me that it was raining a while ago, in a day that looked and felt like spring!

As for photography, the wild vegetation turned out to be almost as interesting as the scenic seascapes!

On my way back to the car, I hanged the camera on my shoulder and I just enjoyed the view.

After all, what else could I ask for?

This is also my contribution to the #wednesdaywalk challenge, hosted by @tattoodjay!

The camera that I used is a Canon EOS 6D mark II with an EF 24-105mm lens attached. I edited the photographs in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic .

All the pictures and the words are mine.

Lovely pics, feeling very jealous :)
I love the seascapes and that building is from another time, but my favorite is this pic.

They remind me of tiny trees and I can imagine an entire tiny population living there :)

hahaha! True true. Blame the classical colonial education of my youth :D I am still trying hard to remove adjectives, adverbs, and flowery language from my writing (another leftover from that education) and struggling. :D

You're so lucky to have this weather during winter season, of course, in a different country. And the photos look like straight from a painting. :D

The weather is indeed, exceptional good this winter, even for Greece :)

Thank you!

I wanna go to Greece. The cold weather here in France makes me depressed. Haha!

That's some walk 👀

And now I want to visit Greece!

Is it still warm enough to swim in winter for real?

I had my last swim the day after Christmas and it was still pleasant. And the sea temperature hasn't drop ever since, it should be around 18C. So on a sunny day like yesterday, I would say yes. But of course it is not like summer :)

Oh... wow. Yeah.

If you see any Greek islands that a broke single mama can afford, please ping me! :D

(Edited)

It's really cool to walk on a sunny day in winter. But if the air temperature reaches above 15 degrees Celsius. Is winter like this in Greece?

In the south part and close to the sea it is like that. We are having temperatures around 18-20C during the day. But in the north and in the mountains it is closer to zero. So it depends on which part of Greece you are :)

That is a stunning view 😍

oh my god, if 3 cloudy days make you depressed, don't come to Belgium 🤣

If we had stunning nature and nice weather like you have, I think I would go hiking more often. It's pretty discouraging to have to cross a city full of cars before you find a nice place to walk, even more so when it's grey or cold. But maybe that's an excuse, I know we should take nature as it is and enjoy the outdoors.

Have a great day!

Haha yes, I don't think I could survive in any northern country :)

Nature has indeed a lot to offer in every conditions but a pleasant weather does help to make the first step out of your house!

Enjoy your snow!

It is really impressive, in your photos you can feel the peace that is surely perceived in that place. You caught the moment with your lens. Congratulations.
