Strange and unfamiliar
If you scroll down my blog you'll see a lot of nature pics, images of the farm life, small settlements and remote places. But once in a while I go to a city. I have lived the biggest part of my adulthood in Athens, the capital and biggest city of Greece, but after nine years of staying in a small village, I look now the urban environment as something strange and unfamiliar. Quite interesting, don't get me wrong on this, I usually enjoy my visits, but as a spectator, not a part of it. And as every city folk finds charming to take pictures of every door and every laundry hanging on a clothesline at my village, I take pictures of the city life and whatever catches my eye :)
The pictures are from a seaside park at Heraklion, the biggest city of Crete. It was early in the morning and I had some time to kill before I start dealing with my affairs. The park seemed to me as a better option to spend that time, than a coffee shop or something like that and having a camera with me always gives me an extra push for some exploring :)
This is a new park, I think it was made a few years ago, but as it is a little away from the city centre where I usually walk, this was the first time that I visited it. Actually it is just a narrow strip of land, between the road and the sea, that has been landscaped into a pedestrian area. A nice initiative for Heraklion since it is a city that has very few public spaces and finding a route to walk can be tricky!
There are a few sculptures on display, they seem like a permanent exhibition but I am not sure about it and a lot of graffiti on the walls. The redevelopment still has the feel of the new, as the users are gradually leaving their mark on it, changing its original form.
There is even a bust of the first man that visited outer space! As I found out later, the park is named after him :)
The pictures were taken last March when the weather was much more winterish than now, in the middle of January. You can even see some snow at the peaks of the mountains :)
A rusty bridge is connecting the park with the nearby beach. That part is pretty much neglected but nevertheless I took a few more pictures before the end of the walk!

I have always wanted to visit Greece but still haven't yet. Is it still warm this time a year there?
Usually it's not, although it never gets as cold as northern Europe but especially this year, it is unusually warm!
Beautiful landscapes of the city! Greece is a beautiful city , I would def love to visit it one day , is it a expensive city?
Hello @malos10, thank you for stopping by :)
Greece is a country, not the most expensive in Europe but definitely more expensive than Venezuela!
I hope you'll have the chance to visit it one day, thought :)
Venezuela is the most expensive country of Latin America, with its crisis and all :(
Is better to me to do tourism outside venezuela than inside haha
Do you know if the ask for any type of visa to enter in there?
To be honest, I don't know. I haven't been outside of Europe for many years and I don't even remember the details of the travelling abroad bureaucracy!
such cool shots sure in the city but it doesnt feel congested and crazy love all the art
Thanks for joining the Wednesday, its always fun for me to visit the walks from all around the world, getting a feel for communities where people live and what they see on their daily walks
I am glad you liked it. It was a change from my usual walks but it turned out OK :)
