Quiet and abstract

The elderly were sitting on the benches for their daily dose of fresh air and chatting while I was in my, once in a while, photographic expedition at the park's flower beds. One small swift on my focusing ring and I found myself from the macro world to the planet of street photography. A brief displacement that resulted only one picture but I like it enough to start the post with it!

But lets move on to the flowers themselves :)

The roses, as well as a few more flowers where white indeed, so the monochrome edit doesn't alter reality too much but the truth is that nature shots in black and white trigger feelings much different than when they are in colour. But they are still interesting in a melancholic, quiet way.

Some of them don't even resemble to the original plant offering us a palette of shapes that can be read in various, even abstract, ways.

And I love both quiet and abstract :)

I don't know why I keep returning to flowers as a subject for my photography. I don't have any scientific or studious interest in them. Actually I don't even know the names of the majority. I would say that my interest is purely formalistic or in plain English, I like the way they look :)

Anyway why we take pictures of anything, in the first place, when it is not our job to do so? Now that I think about it no-one ever offered me money to take pictures of flowers and this could be one more reason why I choose them in my free time :)

If you are curious to see how all those flora would look in colour, you can check out this post that I wrote three weeks ago. It contains not the same pictures but the same plants in their fully colourful glory!

This is my entry for the #monomad challenge.

The camera that I used is a Canon EOS 6D mark II with an EF 100mm f2.8L macro lens attached. I edited the photographs in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic .

All the pictures and the words are mine.

Thank you for reading and if you want to know more about me you can check out my introduction post.

Amazing photo shoot of my friend, I rarely see you capture these extraordinary moments in the black and white community, but the result amazes my friend 😍🥰

Nice captures @fotostef. I think black and white helped a lot to bring out the lines embedded in the flowers to surface. Looks like the lines are dictating the growing angle and defining the aim of them.

Macro photos always leave beautiful results, but I must say that my favorite photo without a doubt is the first one, you captured such a spontaneous and precious moment there!

Perhaps because photography is often the expression of our abstract thinking. Melancholy, that's what I felt without reading you.
