My safe place for photography
I see every evening, dozens of tourists climbing the old stone stairs, leading to the castle. The castle itself is closed at that time but once you get high enough, the view is wonderful and they are many those that choose to enjoy the sunset from up there.
One of those days I'll do it myself but not today. Despite the sunny, warm day that we had, there are some ominous clouds to the west and even if it doesn't rain, anticipating for a gorgeous sunset is a long shot.
I better go to the old town, a safe place for photography, in almost every weather conditions!
Between my place and the old town there is the park which is named by the former train station, that used to be in this very spot. How can I forget with those old wagons in my sight, every day?
In a couple of hours those streets will be filled with tourists walking back and forth, shopping, window shopping or just hanging around. For now things are quite calm and I can enjoy both my walk and my photography quest without a big crowd around me.
When I take pictures on the same location multiple times, it is quite challenging not to repeat myself. Of course every time the light is different and things do change, even in a scenery so fixed as an old, touristic settlement. But it is easy to fall into repetitions. The windows for example, are a favourite subject and I always take a few shots of them :)
Adding a human element is another way to enrich my themes and although I usually prefer to shoot lifeless scenes, in a busy period like August it is an interesting alternative.
I arrived to the port just before the sun sets behind the mountains. It wasn't a bad sunset after all but I am glad I didn't climb all the way to the castle. A few minutes later it started drizzling and I just had the time to hide the camera under my t-shirt and go home!
I had this walk yesterday evening and it is my contribution to the #wednesdaywalk challenge, a great initiative, hosted by @tattoodjay :)
I wish you all, a wonderful Wednesday and many amazing walks!

Thank you very much, I am glad you enjoy them :)
I am excited to see it (and you and Fotini) all in person some day.
I am sure the time will come :)
Oh man, awesome photography. I can see why it is your safe space. There is just something about these towns that lean themselves toward making awesome photography. Your skills are top! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much!
As I have said before, I think I can make nice photos in this town, even with my eyes closed :)
That I can see! It is wonderful and you are so lucky to be there. I wish I could do street photography here in my country, you will get some of the most interesting shots, but the likelihood of getting robbed is also very high.
Wow, seems like you've had so much fun capturing these pictures. Your pictures are more like a work of art, perfect and creative. Guess I need to sign up for a photography class as soon as possible.
Thanks for sharing your experience on your walk out, i really enjoyed it.
Thank you very much, I am glad you enjoyed it :)

Thanks for sharing.
Happy Wednesday evening!
Thank you very much @littlebee4!
Happy Thursday too :)
You are welcome 👋🏻😊
Thanks a lot, enjoy your evening!
I love these pictures. I get what you mean about the challenge of not falling into repetition. I guess it's easier not to if you really enjoy what you are doing and if you stay really present. Looks so beautiful, your surroundings.
I am really glad you like them!
I usually have a good time when I take pictures but I find it hard to judge my own makings!
Thank you for stopping by @mamrita :)
Windows are like the eyes of the house, each one is different. Even, the same window can be different, depending on the day and the owner of the house, will it open it or close 😆
Great that you got some beautiful shots trying to avoid the tourists' invasion 😉
The eyes of the house, indeed! I can't resist to them!
Thank you for stopping by @mipiano :)
I to have safe spots I go to when not sure what the weather is going to be like, funnily enough this morning looking at the apps I use it was supposedly going to be a dull sunrise, but I had a busy day ahead so wanted just to go somewhere and chill to start the day and went a spot by the water to soak in some fresh air and actually had a nice sunrise Mother nature does like teasing us lOL
But i digress loved your walk so much to see there that you shared with us
Yes, it is always handy to have a weather prediction but nature will do as it pleases, no matter what :)
Thank you very much!
Lovely walk through your lens!
What would be your un-safe or un-comfortable place for photography then?
