Good intentions are not enough
I heard a very funny story today, involving the Valentine's Day, some good intentions, a bouquet of flowers and an awkward misunderstanding!
Myself I didn't send a bouquet to anyone (actually I don't remember myself doing such a gesture ever) but I have in this post two dozens of flowers for all of you, either you celebrate or not :)
The first twelve are winter anemones, my favourite wild flowers and the next twelve are from a blooming almond tree, also favourite for its winter beauty!
So there is this guy that wanted to surprise his girlfriend with a bouquet of flowers for the Valentine's day. The day before, he goes to a flower shop, choses the flowers and makes all the arrangements for the bouquet to be delivered at her girlfriend's work address with a cute card with her name and her valentine's message.
All good so far!
The bouquet did arrive on time but with no card on it and no sender name either. On top on that, the boss of the girl that was supposed to get the flowers is a single lady that assumed that the bouquet was for her. A legit assumption since it came to her office with no other info on it. And since it was meant to be a surprise, the girl herself had no idea that those flowers were her's!
As if it wasn't complicated enough, the boss got really excited trying to figure out who was the secret admirer that send her flowers on the lovers day and everyone in the office (including the girl in question) talked for hours about this thrilling matter!
But the time was passing and the guy that had send the flowers was wondering why his girl didn't call him to thank him for his present. So he called her instead.
After a couple of minutes on the phone he realised that his girlfriend hadn't receive the flowers and the surprise was spoiled. Having no other alternative he came forward and explained that he was the sender of the mysterious bouquet and it was the florist's mistake that the card was lost.
And that's how we got to the awkward part where the girl had to go to her boss and let her know that she has no secret admirer, that no one send her flowers and that the bouquet was not meant for her!
A story to prove that good intentions are not enough if the universe disagrees :)
The camera that I used is a Canon EOS 6D mark II with an EF 100mm f2.8L macro lens attached. I edited the photographs in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic .
All the pictures and the words are mine.

Thank you very much @qurator and @ackhoo for your support!
That must have been a very uncomfortable moment for the girl, but also for her boss. I'm glad something like that will never happen to me. My partner and I have never sent each other flowers and if we ever did, it wouldn't be on Valentine's Day. That day is too commercial for us. I did enjoy the flowers in your post.
Yes, for my partner and myself too!
Thanks a lot :)
Anemones are also among my favorite flowers and I was surprised when I saw, in your posts from Crete, that they are a wild and spontaneous flora. Gorgeous flowers, gorgeous photos!
Thank you very much, they are gorgeous flowers indeed :)

Thanks for the flowers and story.
You are most welcome :)
Oops 😁
I imagine the reaction of the boss, after all those hours thinking that there is a secret admirer... 😅
Your photos and these elegant flowers - no better gift than seeing them. We don't need a bouquet 😉
Thanks! I am glad you liked them!
Otherwise it would have been a bit tricky to send bouquets all over the world :)
Definitely good intentions are not enough jjj Good story. Beautiful photos, loved the flowers 🙌.
I am glad you enjoyed both the story and the pictures!
Thank you for stopping by @ceciliajess :)
Ay 🤐... I think she was happy for a while and could visualize a bit the existence of a secret admirer. Who knows if these days she receives a bouquet or another detail that is actually for her. I wish it to be so, Universe, do your magic. 😇
The flowers you have photographed are so beautiful. Personally, I prefer to enjoy them in their natural environment. I don't like when they are cut to be given to me.
Yes, she obviously spent some exciting time before the disappointment. Better than one more boring day at work :)
I love those flowers too. They grow all over the place in Crete so I never even thought of cutting them since I could enjoy them every day as I was stepping out of the house! I kind of miss them though now that I am away!
Beautiful!
Poor boss 🙂
Thanks!
Haha yes, I wouldn't want to be in her position :)
Hi @fotostef! Wonderful photos as always and a good funny story 😀 Do you know if the girl really explained that to the boss? Only the idea that my boyfriend sent me flowers and wanted to surprise me, would make me happy and here, they made happy even a third person. It must have made her day :) why to spoil it, then? :)
Thank you, I am glad you liked it!
Well they told me that she did explained the misunderstanding to her boss and she did take the flowers back!
I would probably let her think that she has an admirer too but this wasn't our story :)
hahahahah... Interesting story with not a good end for the boss... It's probably an even bigger disappointment when you think it's yours, and in the end, it's not... 😔
Love those anemones! They have such a beautiful color!
