A film that we didn't see and a new idea
We went to the movies, a couple of weeks ago, to see the new film of a Greek director that both @traisto and myself like very much. The name of the film is Poor Things and the director is Yorgos Lanthimos. He belongs to my generation and he is one of the very few that managed to have an international carrier and to unfold his talent without the limitations of our underdeveloped (at least when it comes to the film industry) country. Since we have practically the same age, I have followed his carrier from the very beginning and I have to say that he is extraordinary. Maybe his movies are not for everyone but for me, he is the best Greek director as we speak.
As you can imagine we were looking forward to see his new movie and we were super excited when we found out that it is coming in the one and only cinema of our little town! But life got in the way and we managed to make it to the cinema counter the last day of the screenings. We were a bit tired but we didn't want to miss it so we decided to go for it even if it was late at night and the film was going to end long after our bed time.
And then the cashier told us that they are going to extend the screenings for one more week and (it gets even better) on an earlier hour, in the afternoon! That was great news since we didn't want to spoil the experience by being too tired and sleepy. So we went home with the intention to return during the following week.
But life got in the way for one more time and we never went to see it. Now our local cinema plays other movies and we'll have to wait our next visit to the capital for one more chance to actually watch it!
BUT...
... I am not writing a post just to tell you about a film I didn't see. The main reason of this post is a new idea that was born in front of the cinema's door. The cashier after telling us about the extension of the screenings, he also offered us a set of promotional card postals, the ones you can see in the pictures above.
The idea of making some card postals with my pictures, was already in the mind of @traisto and that way of presentation reignited and improved the original concept into something new!
Now we are preparing a set of our own and probably in a few days we are going to print the first test. The theme will be, what else, the beautiful small town that we live in, Nafplio. For that I have chosen a bunch of pictures from the last year and edited them in the same style.
They are all pictures that I have shared before in hive but I would like to hear your opinion as you look at them as one photo essay and imagine if you would like to receive some of them as an actual card postal from a friend that is travelling in Greece.
We are going to use just 8 or 9 of them so your opinion would be really helpful and much appreciated :)

I think it is a good idea to promote this thing. Making some card Postals from the above images, people might be more interested in buying them.

What a great idea! The photos do give you (at least me) being there right on the spot! They are very much a life 😁
Thank you very much for your feedback! I am glad you liked them :)
I hadn't thought about this postcard thing, I think it's a great idea and even more so if these photos are the ones chosen for it. Friend, you are a wonderful photographer, I love the photographic eye you have. My applause for you 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Those photos will make great postcards.
Some friends of mine went to see Poor Things, they said it was amazing. I'll definitely watch it when its available here. Sounded right up my alley xxxx
Thank you!
I think it is the kind of movie you would enjoy! Hopefully we'll manage to see it too :)
I think it's a fantastic idea and i'm sorry y'all didn't get to see the movie yet. I have been looking forward to this one as well but had no idea the maker was Greek. From the looks of it i think i will dig the rest of his movies as well.
Hopefully we'll see it soon! He has done some very interesting movies indeed and mainly out of the box!
Great photos!
Thanks!
I would gladly help you to suggest which ones to choose and use, but it is too difficult! All are awesome, so no, I can't choose hahaha
Haha, thank you!
I guess I'll have to choose myself then :)
Hahaha, hey, I've been meaning to go see that movie but it's playing late here too... I've seen a couple of Lanthimos' films, very talented!
As for the postcards, great idea, but hard to choose, I'd say: 2, 4, 13, 16, 19, 20 🙂
Thank you very much for your feedback!
I hope we'll see the movie after all. We are in Athens now and it is on many cinemas but we are here for just a few days and we have so many things to do that I am not sure if we'll actually make it!
I can imagine, the city absorbs you!
But for sure it will win several Oscars and they will extend the functions or it will come to some streaming platform soon, but of course, on the big screen is another level 😉.
A hug!
Good heavens! How can you choose only 8 of these 20 postcards?.... Well, I'd say ....
03,04,07,08,10,13,14 and 20!... (and 01 if you wish 9 finally!)
And I send you a round of applause and thanks for allowing us to see these lovely photos on #Hive!....
PS: I hope you finally get to see the movie geez!....

Of course, I like all the photos, but if I have to choose only a few and considering the purpose for which they are taken (tourist promotion of the city), I think more about these:
2;3;5;7;9;12;13;16;19;20.
I was a cinephile in my youth, but now I am no longer a practitioner. I am ashamed to say that I don't know much about Greek cinema. I'm glad to learn about your favorite director and will try to learn more about his films. I think Poor Things was in Bucharest and I missed it and many others. I remember hearing about the film, if I'm not mistaken it took a major award at a great festival ... Cannes, Berlin, Venice?
Thank you very much for your feedback, it helps a lot :)
I don't go often to the cinema anymore myself but I do have a few favorite directors :)
I'm glad if it helps and I hope that your initiative will succeed. I would like to be among the first buyers of these postcards.
You'll be the first to know when they are ready :)
Thank you!
wow.... How should I choose which one is the best among all the pictures you post, if I am in selected I ahris said can not choose because all the pictures are spectacular in my opinion. 👌☺
I am glad you like them so much :)
Thanks a lot!
You should consider working as a photographer for a travel and tourism magazine (if you don't already) hahaha... I can't tell you which image is my favourite. That turquoise sea has me in raptures.
(wow wow... I wrote the above before I read the post. I went straight to the pictures... and VOILÀ 😂).
Thanks :)
Well, I used to work for a travel magazine for a few years. The irony is that now that I am objectively much better photographer, I can't find a job in the field anymore.
I spent time gazing at these this morning and have my faves :)
Some beautiful photos here. Honestly 💥
I meant to open this one up on desktop because it's difficult to remember ten numbers at 8am in tbe morning and scrolling on mobile...
Now I'll have to return a third time tomorrow as another day passed by so fast I think I missed most of it 👀
See you again tomorrow!
I hope that at least, you had a good time looking at them :)
Good night!
I'm back! :) Yeah they are that good *sigh
3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 (love the symbolism of the fort and the olive tree :) ), 13 (where I’ll build my little cottage), 15, 16, 17, 19, 20
Chose too many :D
Ans can't edit because I like them all! But I hope it helps anyway...
Haha what am I going to do with you? You are a girl with very expensive taste :)
The place that you have chosen for your humble cottage is a small islet on the entrance of the harbor with a small Venetian castle on it! And it was turned into a hotel in the 30s for a few special guests who had the same taste with you :) I wrote about it here!
Thank you very much for your feedback, it definitely helps!
Have a lovely day :)
