Hello, alien friends! I hope you're all doing well. This Saturday afternoon, I'd like to share a fan art illustration for the weekly Splinterlands art contest. I used the Warborn Chieftain character card as a reference. He's a giant ogre with a huge axe in his arms. I made several modifications to the illustration, but without abandoning the essence of the character. It's painted with alcohol markers. I hope you like it.

Hola que tal amigos aliens, espero que se encuentren muy bien, en esta tarde de sábado quiero compartir con ustedes una ilustración fan art para el concurso de arte semanal de Splinterlands. He tomado como referencia la carta del personaje Warborn Chieftain, un ogro gigante que tienen una enorme hacha en sus brazos, para la ilustración que hice le hice varias modificaciones pero sin abandonar la esencia del personaje, esta pintado con marcadores de alcohol, espero que les guste.

PROCESS

To make this drawing, I used A1 or letter-sized cardstock, and to sketch the design, I used only a graphite pencil. I gradually drew the model I had in mind until I finished it. For this drawing, I'll use markers mixed with crayon colors to give it a nice finish.

Para hacer este dibujo utilicé una cartulina tamaño A1 o carta, y para hacer el boceto del diseño utilicé solamente un lápiz de grafito, fui dibujando el modelo que tenía en mente poco a poco hasta terminar. Para este dibujo utilizaré marcadores mezclados con colores de cera para darle un buen acabado.

In these first steps, you can see how I use different shades of green. This way, I can give volume and contrast to the face so you can see which parts are darker and which are brighter. Although this is an illustration-style drawing, the volume helps a lot to give it a bit of realism within the drawing's canon. An important detail is that I add a beard, since the original doesn't have one, and I also paint the hair green.

En estos primeros pasos se puede ver como utilizo diferentes tonos del color verde, de esta manera le puedo dar volumen y contraste al rostro para que se pueda ver cuales son las partes más oscuras y las partes iluminadas. aunque se trate de un dibujo estilo ilustración, el volumen ayuda mucho a darle un poco dentro de realismo dentro del canon del dibujo. Un detalle importante es que le agrego una barba, ya que el original no posee una y el cabello lo pinto también de verde.

Since the ogre is very large, I'll only draw a portion of it, but I'll leave his large arms and enormous muscles very clearly defined. For example, here you can see how one of his arms, which he uses to hold the axe, is shaping up. Little by little, I'm also painting the wooden handle.

Como el ogro es muy grande solo dibujaré una parte, sin embargo dejaré muy marcado sus grandes brazos y también sus enormes músculos. Como por ejemplo aquí donde se puede ver como va quedando uno de sus brazos, con el que sujeta el hacha, y de la cual poco a poco también voy pintando el mango de madera.

The technique I use for drawing and painting is to first apply a wax crayon, as usual, and then apply the marker paint over that line. This helps create new tones and reinforces the previously applied one. Here I'm doing everything that would be the axe, which I made a bit damaged from the battles.

La técnica que utilizo para dibujar y pintar es en primer lugar echar lápiz de cera, de manera normal y luego sobre ese trazo colocar la pintura del marcador. esto ayuda a conseguir nuevos tonos y se refuerza el que se había puesto anteriormente. Aquí ya voy haciendo todo lo que vendría siendo el hacha, la cual la hice un poco destruida por los combates.

Finishing up the last details, I added more color and worked in the contrast between the fists as they hold the axe, the weapon of battle. Then, with the black marker, I began to outline the entire drawing, and this is how it turned out.

Finalizando los últimos detalles, agregué más color y trabajé bien el contraste en los puños mientras sostienen el hacha, el arma de lucha. Luego con el marcador de color negro comencé a delinear todo el dibujo y así quedó terminado.

FINAL WORK

What do you think of the result? The color looks a bit like the Incredible Hulk. I was partly inspired by those colors, but I got the result I wanted. I hope you like how it turned out. Don't forget to comment what you think. I'll say goodbye until next time.
