[ENG-ESP] DIY "DRACARYS" GAME OF THRONES DRAGON MADE WITH SODA CANS

Hello dear friends, I hope you are very well, today I want to show you a sculpture that I was working on yesterday and today, it is one of the dragons that appeared in the original series of Games Of Thrones, it is Drogon, one of the fire-breathing beasts of the Daenerys Targaryen family, it is one of the most powerful dragons, whose flapping sounds like that of a great storm, it has red eyes that instill terror accompanied by the fire that it expels from its mouth. I made this sculpture thinking about the new series House of Dragon, which I have seen, I liked it a lot as a way to expand the entire universe of Games Of Thrones although in many things I feel that the original series lacked. This dragon is made with beer cans, I hope you like it.

Hola queridos amigos espero que se encuentren muy bien, hoy quiero mostrarles una escultura en la que estuve trabajando ayer y hoy, se trata de uno de los dragones que salieron en la serie original de Games Of Thrones, se trata de Drogon, una de las bestias escupe fuego de la familia de Daenerys Targaryen, es uno de los dragones mas poderosos, cuyo aleteo suena como el de una gran tormenta, posee unos ojos rojos que infunde terror acompañado con el fuego que expulsa por su boca. Hice esta escultura pensando en la nueva serie House of Dragon, la cual he visto, me gustó mucho como una forma de expandir todo el universo de Games Of Thrones aunque en muchas cosas siento que faltó a la serie original. Este dragon esta hecho con latas de cervezas, espero que les guste.

PROCESS

For this sculpture I made some clays that I found on the internet, they were very big since they came to make a giant-sized papercraft figure, so I drew it in pencil to make it smaller and thus better use the dimensions of the cans. Speaking of the cans, I used 6 cans in total: 5 of them to make the dragon and the last one to make a base to pose it on.

Para esta escultura hice unas plastillas que encontré en internet, estaban muy grandes ya que venían para hacer una figura papercraft de tamaño gigante, así que la dibuje a lápiz para que quedara más pequeña y así utilizar mejor las dimensiones de las latas. Hablando de las latas utilicé 6 latas en total: 5 de ellas para hacer el dragón y la última para hacer una base donde posarlo.

Start with the templates for the wings, when cutting them I glued them on top of the can and then cut them out using scissors, Once this is done it is important to make the marks on top of the can that has the wings, I used a pen without ink to make this marks, I made them making the stroke very strong until molding the can very well, I did the same with the other wing until completing both. You have to do it strong but carefully so as not to cut yourself and so that the lines do not come out crooked.

Comence con las plantillas para las alas, al cortarlas las peegué encima de la lata y luego recorté utilizando unas tijeras, Una vez hecho esto es importante hacer las marcas encima de la lata que tiene las alas, yo utilicé un bolígrafo sin tinta para hacer estar marcas, las hice haciendo el trazo muy fuerte hasta moldear muy bien la lata, hice lo mismo con la otra ala hasta completar ambas. Hay que hacerlo fuerte pero con cuidao para no cortarse y para que las líneas no salgan torcidas.

The next step is to cut the scales that go on the back of the dragon, using the larger template I cut the wider scales that go to the sides, and then I cut the thinner scales that go on the top and are raised vertically . After cutting them, I measure very well the space that it will occupy to put the wings, I put glue and the next step is to join both wings.

El siguiente paso es cortar las escamas que van en la espalda del dragón, utilizando la plantilla más grande corto las escamas mas anchas que va hacia los lados, y luego corto las escamas más finas que van en la parte superior y van levantadas de forma vertical. Después de cortarlas, mido muy bien el espació que ocupará para poner las alas, coloco pegamento y el paso siguiente es unir ambas alas.

Then it's time to make the body part, in this first part I start with the neck, for that I use the templates that look like rings, which are glued at both ends until they form small circles, then I join them together. Then I use the largest template for the part of the dragon where the limbs go, using the glue I join all the parts until I form that figure. After this, it only remains to do the rest that would be the tail.

Después toca hacer la parte del cuerpo, en esta primera parte comienzo con el cuello, para eso utilizo las plantillas que parecen anillos, los cuales van pegados por ambos extremos hasta formar pequeños círculos, luego los voy uniendo entre ellos. Seguidamente utilizo la plantilla más grande para la parte del dragón donde van las extremidades, utilizando el pegamento voy uniendo todas las partes hasta formar esa figura. Despues de esto solo queda hacer el resto que serría la cola.

Now the second part of the body is to finish making the tail, for that I take the natilla similar to the neck but that has more parts, 14 rings in total that I am molding and gluing between them, then I join them to the rest of the piece that I had made previously, it can be seen in the photograph how it is left. After this I take the wings and the scales that I had made at the beginning and I put glue on both parts and then join them together, after letting the glue dry very well you can see how the dragon looks.

Ahora la segunda aprte del cuerpo es terminar de hacer la cola, para eso tomo la pnatilla parecida al cuello pero que tiene más partes, 14 anillos en total que voy moldeando y pegando entre ellos, despues los uno al resto de la pieza que habia hecho anteriormente, puede verse en la fotografía como va quedando. Después de esto tomo las alas y las escamas que había hecho al principio y pongo pegamento en ambas partes y luuego las uno entre ellas, después de dejar secar muy bien el pegamento se puede observar como va quedando el dragón.

Then there are only some details like the legs, here it lasted until late at night since I damaged several pieces to be able to put them together, since they were somewhat small and very fragile when cutting with scissors, however I managed to put them together. Then I made the dragon's head molding the figure once the template was cut, this piece also presented the same problems since it is one of the smallest and most difficult pieces to cut.

Luego solo queda algunos detalles como las piernas, aquí dure hasta altas horas de la noche ya que dañe varias piezas para poder armarlas, ya que eran algo pequeñas y quedaban muy frágiles al momento de cortar con las tijeras, sin embargo logré armarlas. Despues hice la cabeza del dragón moldeando la figura una vez cortada la plantilla, esta pieza tambien presentó los mismos problemas ya que es una de las piezas más pequeñas y difíciles de cortar.

The final details to finish was to place the scales on the top and put the dragon's head in its place, in this way, this sculpture has been completed.

Los detalles finales para finalizar fue colocar las escamas en la parte de arriba y poner la cabeza del dragón en su sitiio, de esta manera, ha quedado finallizada esta escultura.

This is how this dragon from Games Of Thrones has been finished, I have many friends from various countries who also make sculptures of cans and they liked how it turned out, I have told them about Hive so that they can share their art with us, but some are incredulous, others distrustful and the rest just don't care, and it's a shame because I consider them superior in their abilities.
