Hello dear friends, I hope you are all well, it has been a long time since I shared a drawing, especially in this community that has always supported me and has the best illustrators I know. I have been very busy during these holidays, when it is always customary to have vacations, I have not had any rest, now that I find myself a little unemployed I have decided to practice the human figure a little, in this case a female body. Using black cardboard, which has already become something classic for me, I intend to play with the magic of light through shadows, I hope you like my contribution. Let's get started!

Hola queridos amigos, espero que todos se encuentren muy bien, tenía mucho tiempo sin compartir un dibujo y menos en esta comunidad que siempre me ha apoyado y tiene a los mejores ilustradores que conozco. He estado muy ocupado en estos días de fiesta, cuando siempre se acostumbra a tener vacaciones yo de igual forma no he tenido descanso, ahora que me encuentro un poco desocupado he decidido practicar un poco la figura humana, en este caso un cuerpo femenino. Utilizando cartón negro, que ya se ha convertido en algo clásico para mi, pretendo jugar con la magia de la luz a través de las sombras, espero les guste mi aporte. Comencemos!

PROCESS

Here you can notice my two favorite colors to work on black paper, on the one hand wax white, in this case for school use, and charcoal white, the latter is what helps me give a realistic appearance to the drawings by highlighting the light reflections on the surface. As a sketch I made some simple lines where I make the shape of the human body in a certain position, when we were children we used to draw people in lines, we must not forget that that is the way to start a drawing, always return to the basics of drawing.

Aquí pueden notar mis dos colores predilectos para trabajar en papel negro, por un lado color blanco de cera, en este caso de uso escolar, y el color blanco carboncillo, este último es quién me ayuda a darle un aspecto realista a los dibujos resaltando los reflejos de luz sobre la superficie. Como boceto hice unas simples líneas donde hago la forma del cuerpo humano en una posición determinada, cuando éramos niños solíamos dibujar a las personas en líneas, no debemos olvidar que esa es la forma de comenzar un dibujo, siempre volver a las bases del dibujo.

With the white wax pencil I begin to shape the sketch. This step is very important to take care of the proportions of all the body's features, especially the girl's face that is lost in the darkness. So I am highlighting the parts of the body well, using soft strokes, not continuous ones, on the contrary as if I were drawing with a brush, each loose line until the body is completely completed.

Con el lápiz blanco de cera comienzo a darle forma al boceto, este paso es muy importante para cuidar las proporciones de todas las facciones del cuerpo, especialmente el rostro de la chica que se pierde en la oscuridad. Así voy pues remarcando bien las partes del cuerpo, utilizando trazos suaves, no continuados, al contrario como si dibujara con pincel, cada línea suelta hasta completar el cuerpo por completo.

Another important thing I did with white wax pencil was to fill the inside of the body, or at least start, this would be equivalent to using a 2H graphite pencil, and then using any B series pencil to darken. So this is just the beginning of the shading, which for the purposes of the black paper would be the lighting hehehe, that's why I like it so much, it's like reversing the reality of things. After this step I prepare to use the white charcoal.

Otra cosa importante que hice con lápiz blanco de cera fue hacer el relleno del interior del cuerpo, o al menos comenzar, esto sería equivalente a usar un lápiz 2H de grafito, para luego usar cualquier lápiz de la serie B para oscurecer. De manera que esto es apenas el principio del sombreado, que para efectos del papel negro sería el iluminado jejeje, por eso me gusta tanto, es como invertir la realidad de las cosas. Luego de este paso si me preparo para usar el carboncillo blanco.

In the following image table we can notice the difference between one pencil and the other, while the wax pencil has a softer tone, the charcoal is more intense, and I first use it gently until I get close to it. the most illuminated areas, that is where I increase the intensity of the line, thus little by little it acquires those strong contrasts between lights and shadows. Without a doubt it is the best for these cases, you could use acrylic paint, but the magic of looking done in pencil would be lost, acrylic paint would only work for very small lighting details.

En el siguiente cuadro de imagenes podemos notar la diferencia entre un lápiz y el otro, mientras el lápiz de cera tiene una tonalidad más tenue, el carboncillo por su parte es más intenso, y yo lo uso en primer lugar de forma suave hasta acercarme a las zonas más iluminadas, ahí es donde aumento la intensidad del trazo, así poco a poco va adquiriendo esos contrastes tan fuertes entre las luces y las sombras. Sin duda es lo mejor para estos casos, podría usar pintura acrílica, pero se perdería la magía de verse hecho a lápiz, la pintura acrílica solo serviría para detalles muy pequeños de iluminación.

Then I continue in the same way until I cover all the parts of the body, in the areas where the shadow was very marked I used a dark wax pencil soaked a little in mineral oil, this helps the dark tone to be stronger than that of the lighter paper that I am using as a surface.

Luego continúo de la misma forma hasta cubrir toda las partes del cuerpo, en las zonas donde la sombra estaba muy marcada utilicé lápiz de cera oscuro remojado un poco en aceite mineral, esto ayuda que el tono oscuro sea mas fuerte que el del papel megro que estoy usando como superficie.
