Resuming normal programming - again...

It was more than a week after returning from our holiday that we had a "normal" Sunday - partly because we'd been returning home the week before (and were not well) and the week before that? Oh, I was fighting exhaustion, trying to tidy up after two markets and get ready for our trip. It all seems so long ago!

So, feeling better and more rested, it was rather good to have a "regular" Sunday Weber chicken (from our friends who rear free range chickens), but we had dessert.

The most delicious chocolate brownie. Said by someone who is not a fan.

I served it with a dollop of locally made double cream yoghurt. Sanmari had told us that one is enough for two - it really was. And here's the thing: they were especially commissioned for the wedding because the bridal couple discovered them on their regular trips to the area, and always stop by and share one.

For South Africans in the Wilderness area - or planning to visit - who need one - comment and I'll find out exactly where they came from.

A good end to a relatively normal weekend. It had been a while and, little did we know then, that it would be another while until yesterday's really normal Sunday! More of that tomorrow. Perhaps...

Post script: I am trying to participate in @traciyork's April #HiveBloPoMo. I emphasise trying because RL - and my day job - have been so busy over the last while that I've not known which way to turn. That shouldn't stop you - or anyone. Read about how to participate here.

This is Day 3

Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:

  • re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
  • and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
I blog to the Hive blockchain using a number of decentralised appplications.
  • From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.

  • lastly, graphics are created using partly my own photographs, images available freely available on @hive.blog and Canva.

When the wheels are turning faster than we can, know the feeling of late 😉no need to apologize.

Have not seen a wedding in tartan in many years, hope you had a fling!

We did, Joan, thank you. I'm still deciding whether or not to share more about the wedding... Have a good week!

I'm not sure if I want the salad or the chicken most, they both look like just what I need to add some colour to this grey and dreary day!

Every time I think spring is finally here we get more snow, and then a week of it slowly melting with brown patches of grass showing through and never turning green 😿

Even my husband who generally don't care what the weather is like is gettting fed up! This morning, before going to bed, he told me he wants us to emigrate to somewhere sunny with no noise pollution - meaning cars, trains, planes etc. Then he added "but I'm sure as soon as we get there it'll snow, and some fluffing (thank you for the word, @tengolotodo!) yuppies will fly by in a rented helicopter to get to the new skiing pists!"

And we are lamenting the passing of summer! Oh, to be like the village swallows...a couple - she's a former Swedish diplomat and he an American conservationist - spend summers there and here... Our village is quiet but not entirely - it's a (growing) and working farming village, so at different times of the year there's quite a bit of vehicular traffic. Alas, unless one lives in splendid isolation - literally - noise is hard to escape!

True, true. And if we did live in such a wonderful place, we'd have to get a car or a motorbike in order to go shopping, so we'd be the polluters!
