Market Magic

Where to begin with this?

Perhaps with the pretty porcelain plates. There's a new potter in town. No, not a new arrival. Rather, someone who grew up in the village and over the last few years has, I guess, come home and is finding his niche.

I like pairs, so I had to have two. You'll notice the colours are different. I fell in love with both - and the mandala-cum-dream-catcher design.

Simon tells me these were not just his first attempt but also his first sale. At the market last Saturday. If they are an indication of talent and what he has yet to do...

So, I used them - as I do. Twice in a day, and filled them also with market fare for a #meatfreemonday.

First up, pickled fish. The Husband was delighted to discover that I had saved some that I had made for the market. For us.

Then, supper.

Trish's delicious falafel (from my freezer stash) and tzatziki.

All to be eaten off porcelain prettiness - with accompaniments, of course!

About the pita

IMG_20230411_044550_094.jpg

The pita, which I began on Sunday evening, from sourdough discard, are the best I have made. Yes, like so much baking with natural yeast, one has to plan. And do the plan.

To coin an old phrase from the A Team's Hannibal: "I love it when a plan comes together!"

Post script: I am trying to participate in @traciyork's April #HiveBloPoMo. I emphasise trying because RL - and my day job - have been so busy over the last while that I've not known which way to turn. That shouldn't stop you - or anyone. Read about how to participate here.

This is Day 11

Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:

  • re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
  • and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
I blog to the Hive blockchain using a number of decentralised appplications.
  • From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.

  • lastly, graphics are created using partly my own photographs, images available freely available on @hive.blog and Canva.

Pita looks like a chappati from Uganda and the artwork on the plate looks stunning too.

Ah, it's a long time since I had a chapati! Well, I've had roti's which are quite similar and very different from pita which are more puffy and bready than what I remember of a chapati. The plates are beautiful. I am delighted with them.

For sure chapati's made slimmer. About roti, I guess it's quite similar to chapati, with eggs and veggies rolled(roles) is the best

The pita look great! Sourdough? That sounds delicious! I am pretty dull with mine, I do !/2 white and 1/2 wheat flour, but I wouldn't mind trying those.

Pickled fish on a pite? Yes, please. You have a knack for cooking up some yummy dishes. It comes naturally to you.

I really love those plates. They are full of color and style, loving the Mandela styling! This was such a nice way to show off your dinner! I love plates!

#MarketFriday loves you!
