Fiddling with flavours
It's been a while since we braaied. The weather was miserable, and because of Saturday rugby, the usual braai didn't happen. Last night The Husband braaied. Even though it was cold.
It's the season when salads are difficult and cold food doesn't always appeal.
So, in addition to sweet potato wedges, I fiddled with flavours: cucumber, beetroot with a sprinkling of cumin and tzatziki. That was rounded off with a drizzle of olive oil.
I kept everything separate and added the tzatziki just before serving because I don't like how beetroot contaminates everything.
Next time, I might add a sprinkling of dill or parsley. Either way, I shall do this again.
Now, I am hoping for a week that is calm, quiet and relatively normal.
Until next time, be well

- and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.

That braaied meat looks really good and yes, cold food has not been too appealing here, although it warmed up a little this past week. I love beetroot but not the way it 'contaminates' food - good way of describing it😉
Thank you. I keep on finding recipes that have beetroot as the hero...but... That reminds me, I was going to look for a beetroot risotto recipe.

Thank you so much @rem-steem and @bdcommunity !
I love beetroot in any form, but I find it funny that you say it contaminates everything 😂 it can be a bit invasive, haha.
It absolutely is! 😆
Looks super good, earlier braai in winter months to watch the sun go down then flee indoors to curl up with a happy tummy!
Have you noticed how the pets hang around when it comes to a braai, definitely a meal we all enjoy ☺️
Have a great new week.
Our cats go wherever it's warm 😹 We have a little braaikamertjietjie... It makes a big difference!
Nice to have a special place to relax, enjoy the fire and food.
Ah yes the rugby internationals are in full swing
And as The Husband's rugby career was stopped in its tracks, and he remains a fan, we watch. Divided loyalties when South Africa plays Scotland, I tell you!
ah yes South Africa versus Scotland must test where loyalties lie hehe 😂😂😂
