Another winter

I loathe the cold and I hate getting up in the dark. No, I would not survive in the Northern Hemisphere where the cold and short days are much, much more intense than here.

The sun was just rising as I packed the pickup for the market on Saturday: a 4°C sunrise.

Everybody was looking for warmth. We knew that the winter blue skies belied the wind and rain that was coming. The birds, too, revelled in it.

On the church spire.

Here's a set of snaps as they sunned themselves and flew about the parapets.

By mid-afternoon, the clouds were heavy and the wind was driving the rain...so began what will be a mostly wet and windy week.

Until next time

Very wet and windy here today, and I enjoy this kind of weather, although Maran says that I am bonkers, and of course she totally agrees with you about the weather. !LOLZ

Must have snow in McGregor today, clever birds capturing the sun with a great view up there.

Warm fire, cup of hot chocolate and soup weather!

We haven't seen the mountains since Saturday, so I couldn't tell you! We shall see if the clouds lift today!

We were warned of heavy rain, but only had very strong winds this afternoon (did you send the Cape winds this way?) thunder and lightning, a little rain, and then the storm just died out. Damage in other parts of KZN, and the Eastern Cape was badly hit as I'm sure you heard.
I would love to move to the Cape but I would not survive your harsh winters.
The short winter days actually affected Dean, but thankfully the days are getting longer again over there.
Time for soup and comfort food Fiona <3

I was just wondering how you are faring. I'm glad to hear you're ok. It's still raining today - day 4... Then possibly a break tomorrow and then it's back for 2 days. Mercifully, it stops for the weekend (and the market) as well as into next week.

Oh yes, comfort food season!

Take care, Lizelle xx
