Long-Hour Power Cuts in Greece

So these past few days were kind of a nightmare in my area. You all know Greece, many of you have already visited the country, undoubtedly it's one of the most beautiful countries in the world but ofc we have corrupt politicians as it basically happens everywhere these days.

So this week was one of the hottest in Greece with the thermometer reaching up to 43 degrees. Today it supposed to be a bit better but i am just sitting in my PC and sweating so there's that. So long story short 3 days ago while i was working and i remember the time being 15:00, i decided to open the air condition because i couldn't stand it anymore.

2 minutes later there was a power-cut, at basically the hottest time of the day. I checked to see if the problem was coming from my side but a friend of mine that lives close by had the same issue. After a bit of search, half the city i am in had a power cut. After 3 hours i had power again.

Now the same thing happened again 2 days ago, again at the same hours and the worst power-cut occurred yesterday, from 19:00 to 00:00. The city was like a dead one as dark prevailed. Now while i thought it was bad for me i learned from multiple people over some FB teams that during these days, literally half the city had a power cut from 15:00 to 01:00. Can you freaking imagine that?

Now according to the relevant sector, it was α mulfuction. Now note this happened in Athens, in a specific suburb not in any other city or small village. We are talking about the capital of Greece and from what i learned, over 3-4 municipalities nearby had that issue, for the same hours on the same days. While the more "rich" municipalities had no issue at all. A lot of people say that this was actually intended to save power rather than a malfunction as the power cuts happened on the same days and mostly the same hours for everyone.

Besides all this, the most interesting thing for me is that i lived in this city all of my life and have never had a power cut this long. It may be for 1 day and for 2 hours tops and during a heavy rain or something. I faced power cuts in my village but never in the capital of Greece. The sad part is that a lot of people had actual problems out of nowhere like burned air-conditions, food that had to be thrown and even worse people of age, small children, and people with health issues, needed that cool air from a fan or an air condition. What about them and who will reimburse them? I believe none.

Not my general type of post i guess, more like a post highlighting my frustration, cause literally the past few years in this country all we get from any government is one frustration after the other!
