Let's talk about Quiet Quitting
Lately, i keep on hearing more and more about the new trend that is going on and everyone is talking about it that's called Quiet Quitting. Mostly every economics/recruiting/business website that i visit has an article about that matter and heck even on social media like Tik Tok you can find many references but
What is Quiet Quitting?
Quiet Quitting has actually nothing to do with quitting your job and searching for a new one. As a matter of fact, Quiet Quitting is basically when the employees do the minimum effort at work and basically don't try at all.
Apparently, this has become a huge thing, especially in America where 32% are considered to be engaged workers, whereas 18% are disengaged ones. Of course, the next step is to actually quit and find another job. Now many will argue and say that's not the case and all people are working hard and stuff but that's actually not the case at all.
At the same time and due to my experience i won't say that the workers are lazy or something but what i will say is that the company and company's culture may be the number 1 reason of their minimum effort but allow me to explain what i mean.
We are all facing a crisis nowadays with the gas and war and basically, everything is up in terms of prices. At the same time though the vast majority of the big companies even though they may get some tax deductions from the government haven't raised their salaries at all. In other words the employees are expected to do the exact same work with less salary.
Moreover, there is some new trend going on from people that in my opinion don't care about their employees which is to force people back in the offices from their remote work. I am not talking about hybrid work but fully on the company's premises. They offer free cookies and stuff like that to attract the employees back and make it sound more "relaxed and beautiful".
The employees though don't like that fact mainly, because they have to spend hours in traffic, spend money on train/bus tickets or gas and in other words losing money and time again. I don't think a free cookie per day could compare to -2 hours of my life each day in traffic plus additional costs.
The third reason is the company's main culture. Some jobs or managers are quite strict, they reward hard work with more hard work and basically, they create a stressful environment to work. That logic to work extremely hard so other can get paid with too much money is out of bounds these days.
Each time i talk about things like that i remember a friend of mine that worked at one of the Big 4. She was working like 10-12 hours per day, her manager called her at weekends or during her leave to give her extra work and it was unbearable. Her salary was not good at all, especially with her program and when she left the company, they offered her 25% more money but she actually found a job with double the money.
Closing this post quiet quitting will continue happening and it will get worse if corporations still treat people like nothing. Now with globalization people can find job more easily than 50 years ago, thus they won't stay for long if you don't treat them right.

The trick is to show your employer how valuable you are to the organization. Most people were replaceable if they had bad ethics in the past. If you are a small local business you have to put up with some of these folks to keep the doors open.
(I'm not a big fan of this movement) lol

the thing is that man employers realize how "valuable" you are when you tell them that you quit :p

This reminds me of the proverb that was popular in socialist Yugoslavia. "Nobody can pay me that bad as bad I can work."
Of course, this principle works only under specific circumstances. For example, when the labour laws or the nature of job makes firing and replacing someone very difficult.

Nowadays in most jobs each time someone resigns after a while, the company faces more costs, in order to fill the position than keeping the guy happy. ofc there are some cases that the employees have to be fired as well.
