Creature Commandos is Out (2024 Early Review)

image.png

In case you are not aware a new original animated series is out. It's called Creature Commandos and produced by DC Universe. This is something written by James Gun and it is the first television series and first installment in the DCU after James decided to do a remodeling let's say.

The series premiered on December 5 2024 on Max and in total there will be 7 episodes, at least in the first season. So far 2 are out. Also note that like in every animated series, we are talking about small episodes or around 20-30 minutes each.

Plot

The plot is quite straightforward and follows the suicide squad narrative and some events that took place in there as well as the first season of Peacemaker. So we got Amanda Waller who is no longer able to put human lives at risk to do her bidding. Thus, she finds let's say a loophole and uses General Rick Flag senior to lead a team of creatures in order to protect the queen of a small country that is threatened by a witch named Circe that wants to rule. Ofc, the reason Amanda wants to protect the country is because of its rich natural resources.

Thus, a team is formed and part of this team is the Bride who is relevant to the whole Frankenstein story, Nina Mazursky an amphibian scientist, G.I Robot, a military android that its purpose is to kill Nazis, Weasel which is an animal-like thing without common sense (both voiced by Sean Gunn) and Doctor Phosphorus a skeleton like a thing with radioactive powers (voiced by the one and only Alan Tudyk).

What I Liked and what I Didn't

Now even though it's still early as only 2 episodes are out, i really like the animation a lot. The scenery was amazing and the fight scenes were also quite cool. To add to this, the voice actors are doing phenomenal work but that's to be expected with these big shots.

The plot isn't something amazing for the time being but we will see. To tell you the truth as someone who have watched countless animations and anime 7 episodes are nothing in my mind in terms of getting hooked by a show. Even though they try to show the backstory of everyone slowly out of the 20-30 minutes if you take 10 for a backstory then you don't have much.

Thus, i believe to be honest that this would be a good show to have a good time but i don't think that everyone will get hooked by it or that it will gain a huge fanbase because nobody will get attached to the characters. Certainly, though i believe that the animated series will go well and that it will also have a second season. Mark my words :P

Have you watched the show?

I've never tried to see an anime before and I'm guessing you won't recommend I start with this 😅
Nice review anyways, and I hope you enjoy the coming episodes.

Ahh man,I don't really roll woth DCs animated series but I prefer it to Marvel's stuff. You should check out prime video's stuff. Epic.... I already added this to my watchlist some time ago. I think this is my sign to finally see it

I watch both! In my opinion DC has way better animation than Marvel. Marvel has way better movies and series than DC though!

Oh, I get what you mean. People tend to root or return to a series when the find at least one of the characters relatable or at least like them for some reason or the other. But this animated series looks interesting enough. Thanks for sharing!🌺

exactly! and in series or movies that you are watching for hours it's easier to relate with someone, than which a 20 minutes episode!
