The Rise and Fall: Dragon Age games.

In 2009 a masterpiece was released. It was called Dragon age Origins. I love this game. It feels like it was inspired by my favorite books: Lord of the Rings, Song of Ice and Fire and The Witcher. World was full of interesting places to discover and people to meet. Enemies were scary. Many people were lying and scheming something. Always trying to climb a ladder. Your friends and enemies alike had their own personalities, flaws and goals. Your main character was silent but you could play him as you wanted. Nothing stopped you from playing as an evil character or as paragon of virtue. The main villain seemed like an unstoppable force of nature while a secondary villain was a flawed human who gained power by betraying a king in a decisive battle. Main characters could not defeat those obstacles on their own so we had to unite several factions in order to succeed. Those factions needed help as well because they all had their own problems. The story of the game was interesting and engaging. The world- grim, morality often was more grey than just white or black. The game did not avoid mature topics like sexuality or slavery. Some of fans favorite characters were bisexual but they were not were to send a DEI message. They were charming characters and being bisexual was just tiny part of their characters. In other words their bisexuality was not pushed down on players throats. In the begining of the game players were able to choose between 6 distinct backrounds that had effect on your playtrough. Game was a true RPG. You could make meaningful choices that would decide the fate of the world and your companions, control your main character and other party members, equip them with many different armors and weapons. Dialogues were witty and funny. Another important thing the game accepted players with respect. Dragon age Origins was brilliant. It is not my favorite game of all time but it is damn close...I just happen to love Witcher games more. I highly recommend Dragon age Origins as one of the best games of all time.

Electronic Arts only gave Bioware very little time to make a Sequel to Origins. So DA2 was more flawed but still enjoyable game. This game had a lot of ruesed maps. I liked combat less than the one in origins. Also from what I recall it had less meaningful choices. You could not change your companions armor in this game. But despite all those negatives and shortcamings it was a better game than I could have expected considering short dvelopment time. A story about a basically nobody refugee who gained power and fame and in the process helped reshape the world. Companions were great as well.

dragon age inquisition? A story about saving the world from a madman who believed himself to be a god. I liked the main story and companions quests. But other content was boring and repetitive. The main villain seemed like a real threat. At first. After that we started destroying all his plans and kicking his ass every time. After that we started destroying all his plans and kicking his ass every time. So he became a disappointing joke very quickly. Still I enjoyed this game.

And about ten years after inquisition in 2024 the latest Dragon age called the dragon age veilguard was released. And I have no intention of playing it. I have seen a lot of footage from this game...And I only liked hairs and some backgrounds were beautiful. But other than that I disliked pretty much everythng that I saw or heard from this game. It starts with DEI already. In character creation you can choose your pronouns and add surgery scars. You can only import 3 choices from a previous game(inquisition). None of the companions seems appealing to me and few of them I already hate. One of them claims to be non-binary(In a fantasy setting I would not expect to hear such words). Remember how I called the villain from inquisition a disappointing joke? Well villains in veilguard seem even more patchetic. Dialogues are horrible. Characters keep stating the obvious and repeating themselves. Also it seems that the game thinks that players are small kids. While Origins was the only game in the series that allowed to be truly evil it seems that now our character can't even be a bit mean most of the time. Not only I dislike all new companions I also dislike how creators changed old companions as well.

They turned this hot pirate into this in veilguard. To tell the truth I didn't even recognize that it is the same Isabela at first:

You think I am criticizing too much? Then how about changes for my favorite Witch in DA series? Here is she in DAO.

And here is Morrigan in Veilguard

Not only did her appearance changed. She also become far too sweet and lost all her bite. That is also what I dislike about new companions. They all seem to be a good nice person. Even the necromancer. Were are now selfish, evil or even neutral characters everyone appears to be positive, goody two shoes. They make me want to vomit.

I know that some people enjoy the Veilguard. I wanted to like this game as well...But I just can't. From what I have seen and heard from this game it is so bad that it is an insult to how great previous games were. Especially how great Dragon Age Origins was. I can't believe that I waited 10 years for the veilguard...

So from what I know Veilguard doesn't accept most choices made in past games. It forces DEI. The game has ruined old characters. And new characters are not interesting to me. Villains are pitiful especially after comparison to villains of the past. From what I know there are no day/ night cycles or seasonal changes. I can't comment on combat because I have not played this game. But it seems to go even further away from DAO combat. And I thought that DAO combat was the best in the series. From what I saw and heard this game is trying too hard not to offend anyone.

If this was not a Dragon age game perhaps I would still play it despite all those things I see as flows. But the fact that this is sequel to one of the best games ever made is just sad to me. The only way I would pay for Bioware game again would be if they made:1. A remake of first 3 draqon age games (DAO is still awesome so it would only need a remaster). 2. A remaster or a sequel to Jade Empire.

When Dragon Age Was Released, I used to study in class 9 at that time and my classmates used to tell me a lot about this game and they must have played this game on their home computer, so they used to tell me a lot about the scheme there, however I did not have a personal computer at that time, so I could not experience this game. Now as I am going to hear about Dragon Age 2, maybe I can play it if I get time because I am finding it very interesting.

If I remember right I actually played DA2 before the origins. For some reason I thought that it was from some other series of games. I highly recommend Origins but 2 and Inquisition were quite good as well.

Because of my age, plus where I had to grow up, because I had to work since I was very young I never had time for video games, but something that I still enjoy is watching and reading manga and watching Anime, and now that I can enjoy some video game series or movies, such as Doom, Resident Evil, The Last of Us, I just finished watching Arcane.
