Rest for men after pregnancy

I know my title got your attention, but here I am. I’ll be saying some funny things in this blog, so don't hold anything against me and laugh it out. Literally, when I saw the prompt topic, the first thing that came to mind was, "Men are truly giving birth in our modern world," so should we term their resting period as paternity or maternity leave? 😂

Anyway, that's not what we are here to discuss. Hello Hivers, my name is Fashatioluwa, the one known as the alien on the hive, and we are going to be discussing if men should be given leave after their wives are put to bed.

As we all know, it is mandatory, like the rise of the sun, that a woman be granted leave after going to bed. One beautiful thing about the women's leave is that they are given 12 weeks of leave, meaning they are to take 6 weeks before going to bed and another 6 weeks after going to bed, but what about the man? Does the man not deserve such treatment? This is where I say #justiceforthemen

I'm going to answer all the questions asked now.

I do believe a man should be allowed to have his leave before his wife gives birth. I know men and women are not built equally, no matter how much people claim we are equal; genetically speaking, we are not, and we can confirm that from the 2024 Olympic competitions. I think a man should be given some weeks of leave prior to the time his wife is expecting her baby. Would it be nice for a husband to be at work and his wife starts calling him, saying, "Honey, my water just broke."?

One thing is that, immediately a wife is pregnant, she's not the only one going through stress; the man also has his share of stress. Let's not even talk about some unrealistic cravings some women have that their husband has to satisfy just for peace to reign.

After the child has been born, there are times a man is never granted a leave because of the popular saying, "You're not the one who gave birth in the hospital." Many people forget that when the baby cries, both the father and mother won't be able to sleep. How can a person who lacks sleep function well at work?

Another thing is that the child needs to know his father. At that time of the child's birth, a lot of family members will come to celebrate with the couple. If the child keeps seeing different faces every time, the child might start questioning who his father is. (Just saying)

Anyways, I believe a father needs his time with his child so they can bond together as a family. It is a natural instinct for a man to go out to provide for his family, so even if it wasn't given, the man will want to go out to get something for his family. Now to the people saying, if the man stays at home, what will the family eat? Now, thing about this: will the person granting the father leave not cover for that leave? Even if he works on his own, there will definitely be provision before a leave is taken.

If you're a man out there, take your time to rest and be born with your child(ren); it is necessary.
Thanks for reading.

You guys deserve some rest too, I agree with you.
But it depends on the kind of work he's doing.

If the child keeps seeing different faces everytime, the child may start questioning who is real father is...

Oh chim! 😂

You this crazy alien from only God knows where 🤣🤣🤣🤣 you have come again.

True though, I also support that a man should be given some days off work when his wife puts to bed so that he can care for her and the baby.

The reason most men don't want to do this is because they feel it will be tiring for them or they don't want the wife to send them on errand which would affect their ego. So instead, they go and bring their mom or the girls mom to take care of her.

The man should understand that this is a crucial time when the woman needs him the most. The wife needs to feel secure in her man

Nice one. It's really crazy if a woman is ready to give birth and the man is not there. It would really be fine if men are granted leave before the wife gives birth. The question is, what company will accept that? I think that leave better be a casual leave or annual leave. If called a paternity leave especially when the wife hasn't given birth, I doubt if it will be granted.

I think there are company’s that do that
I have seen many in Abuja
The thing is one should just work in a place where they would appreciate and care for them

That's good . I haven't seen any but it is very fine like you said when one's employer has his interest at her. Pregnancy and child birth is a serious matter that needs time off work to handle
