Believe me; It is okay for the government to spy on you.

It looks like a conspiracy theory when people say the government has their eyes on us. Is it the truth? Yes, it is the truth. Apart from the data the government collects from its citizens legally, there are times when people are being spied on, which I believe is wrong. Whatever has an advantage will surely have a disadvantage.

I believe the government should have our data, even on the things we do on the internet. I know many people will disagree with me, but by the end of my blog, many will come to agree with me. There is no big deal in the government having eyes on our data, even on the things we do on the internet, and the reason why I say this is because if the government means good for the country, they would be able to stop many crimes and future disasters.

In the years 2015–2016, Nigeria experienced a tough time at the hands of terrorists and their sponsors. I believe if the government had adequate data on its citizens, people coming in, what the citizens do on the internet, and how they move, they would have been able to track down the terrorists and stop many of their attacks.

Since 2014, the U.S. has averaged more than one mass shooting a day, according to data from the Gun Violence Archive. While there is no official definition of “mass shooting,” this database tracks incidents involving multiple victims of gun violence. Mass shootings in the United States have been a tragic and recurring phenomenon. These incidents involve several victims of firearm-related violence. However, the precise inclusion criteria for what constitutes a mass shooting are disputed, and there is no broadly accepted definition.

Many of the people who are involved in these shootings didn’t just wake up one morning, start planning it, and execute it that day. It took days of planning, some browsing about it, making calls, and some of what they posted or their activities led to what had happened. If the government had some of this data, they could have prevented it from happening, but nothing is too certain in the world we live in.

Methods of getting the data:

I don’t agree with getting our data illegally, but there are ways the government can get our data legally, and it’s via our social media. Many people post a lot about their daily lives on social media, which is enough data for the government to narrow down individuals that look suspicious. Then they can go ahead and check their private lives to see if they are on the Lord's side or the dark side.

One thing I am not happy about in my country is that the government lacks adequate data on its citizens. How many citizens are there in the country? Who is coming in, and who is going out of the country? What is the mortality rate in the country? If someone disappears for a long time, will the government take note? If the government has data on all this information, it will be easy to make plans and help the country grow better.

One thing I will still stand against is the government taking our private data without cause. When I speak of private data, I mean data that we do not have on the internet, like our pictures, our private conversations, or videos. These are more private, and they shouldn’t be pried upon unless there is information about the person being a threat to the nation's peace.
