A mandatory service to my nation: National Youth Service Corp. (Nysc)

You might be wondering who that handsome guy in the picture is, he is someone you know. He was drafted into the National Youth Service Corps to service his country. He went through rigorous military training and was accepted to play the drums for the other corp members during their national parade. The man in the picture is your favorite hiver @fashtioluwa

National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) is a mandatory service a graduate must go through. Nysc is a service every graduate looks forward to because it is a time for them to explore other parts of the country and while doing that, they get paid the minimum wage. The truth is that it is not a must for a graduate to take part in the NYSC program. Still, it is mandatory because the company or other workforce will request the certificate of your service to your country before they employ you in their organization.

The service to our country is meant to last for a year. The first month is the month of training, where you get equipped with all the knowledge needed for your service in the state you are deployed to. I school in the west and north central which are more populated by the western people but I was deployed to service in the core North (Sokoto)

During one year, I learned some northern languages, cleared some stereotypes I heard about the north, and had so many friends.

One thing I love about the NYSC program is that it allows graduates to explore another part of the country, places they haven't been to and they get to learn about other tribes while serving there. I believe it is a necessary part for every young adult in the country to partake of. Although the money has been increased recently but the time I was in service, my allowance always finished before the next one came in.

The one-year service is not an easy one because you have to be away from your loved ones in a strange land. You have to make new friends, relearn, and represent your country and family where you are. It's a big responsibility every corp member shoulders. I don't think the program should be scrapped and if I have the chance to serve my country in another life, I would do the same.

Some people who served in a bad place might not agree with me but I believe everyone must have learned something and gained experience from their place of service. I for one made friends with people of high caliber in the country, politicians, high-ranking military officers, and many more. I wouldn't have had the opportunity to be friends with people like this. I am sure many people who are currently or have served will agree with me, the experience gotten from their service is one of a kind.

I am happy I served my country and if I have the chance to do it again, I would. Thanks for reading.

That's just it, you get to meet different people and hopefully get connection to get work instead of working around dropping applications.

It is super interesting to have known the experience from someone who has directly enjoyed it. I realize that it has left you with good learning. My question is, would you like to return in the future and continue your military career? It seems to me that You have everything you need to do it, and if my intuition doesn't betray me, you would do very well if you do it.

you even had the strength to join the band, and the only thing I did was parade aside from that I didn't do any other thing, NYSC was fun I'm not going to lie, I got to travel to places I'd been meaning to, which was the north.
