I most recent times, I've come across peoples Hive wallets and discovered that most people move their HBD rewards to the HBD savings on-chain, which others convert and deposit to buy Hive Engine tokens. This have made me to ponder why people do what they do with their rewards from content creation. However, everyone is free to do what they want to do with their money, since we're a democratic platform.

This has made me to do a little analysis to ascertain which is best in terms of hive hustling and that's the main purpose of this post.

Before I venture into the comparative analysis section of this post, let's understand what and why people hustle on the hive blockchain.

The essence of hive hustling is to create avenues for Hivers to generate additional or passive income streams in order to have a smooth run and live well in the real world.

People venture into hive hustling in order to set up or start up other businesses such as Real Estates, poultry and other ventures that can improve their wellbeing.

It should be noted that both on-chain HBD savings and staking hive engine tokens already existed even the current change in the interest on HBD savings from 12% to 20% APR. The reason for the influx of Hivers into HBD savings is just the unanimous decision made by the Hive Witness in April.

What does the on-chain HBD savings mean to me and why it's necessary?

For me, the increase in APR interest on HBD savings simply means an avenue to secure one's investment for a long term and still gain a little interest on it and still have your investment intact.

We all know that the crypto market swings like a pendulum and can land crash at anytime, making one to lose all good or her investments in split second. Everyone saw how TerraUSD (UST) crashed overnight, making investors to lose billions of dollars worth USD.

Be that as it may, in terms of hustling on the Hive blockchain and generating rewards, on-chain HBD savings cannot be compared to investments on Hive Engine tokens.

A large number of the coins on HIVE-Engine crashed when the witnesses raised the interest on HBD to 20%.

The smart money on HIVE knows that HBD has a higher rate of return than alt coins than the HIVE-Engine coins.

I noticed that many of the smartest players on HIVE simply dumped whatever alt-coins they had in their portfolio and transferred the money back into HIVE to buy HBD. This is easy to prove by following the Honey-Swap account which is the primary mechanism for moving money between HIVE and HE.

I confess, prior to the interest rate raise, I was transferring all of my HBD into HE.

The alt-coins on HE have the problem that the coins have saturated their market. If you look at the token page on HE you will notice that most of the coins have extremely low volume and low liquidity.

The daily interest for many of these coins is higher than the daily volume. This means that there is simply not enought buyers for the coins for the coins to maintain their current value.

Since the high HBD interest dried up deposits into HE, I suspect that the future for most of the coins on HE is bleak.

Since the alt-coin market is oversaturated and since HIVE guarantees the returns on HBD, I think the smart move is to follow the smart money and put it all in HBD.

I agree with you at some point, but following the smart money when you're starting from the scratch means to waste your resources. We have different perspectives we're coming from, mine is from using the investment on Curation rather than keep them in liquid form.

I agree that curation should be the primary focus of HIVE. I was moving all of my HBD earnings into HIVE-Engine before the witnesses raised the interest on HBD to 20%.

This foolish decision by the witnesses stopped the flow of funds into Hive-Engine and undermined the HE platform. One can prove this by looking at the flow through honey-swap.

Were the witnesses to lower the interest rate, we would see the fundamentals of the platform change and we would see funds flowing back into HE. The high interest on HBD undermines HE.

My point is that the smart money moves according to the algorithm. The only reason that a person would buy an alt-coin over HBD is because the person has some foolish notion about curation and community.

I'm one of those that are moving HBD to the Hive-Engine, not to buy and stake Hive-Engine tokens, but to add liquidity to the Diesel pools... I pick tokens that I would like to pair and remove the huge risks that almost every "tribe token" has...
That's another way of earning passive income that the Hive-Engine ecosystem provides... ;)
But, I do agree that HivePower and HBD savings are the best and most secure ways to preserve wealth at these moments...

I'm one of those that are moving HBD to the Hive-Engine, not to buy and stake Hive-Engine tokens, but to add liquidity to the Diesel pools... I pick tokens that I would like to pair and remove the huge risks that almost every "tribe token" has...

I like this fact and would've loved to venture into it but don't know how to navigate through it. I wish you could throw more light on how to create liquidity with one's HBD or any token.

I so much believe in acquiring skills that'll help me earn more passive income on the hive blockchain.

For a while now, I have just been staking those HE tokens that can be staked. Others that can't just lie around my HE wallet. I've not been able to come up with a certain strategy to play with them :)

I'll have to agree with @yintercept: I feel that HE market is too saturated with useless coins that have no use case. How they'll increase in price if they can only be staked to earn more coins in the future? What we'll do with all those coins in the end?
