Give It a Shot, Because why $NOT? Reclaim your life

Hello everyone, so how's it going? $NOT going good? Well, It will be. Just HODL yourself together and keep reading. Today, I will be talking about a really important topic which is most of the time not looked upon.

In todays world tech is all over the place, it's very easy to forget the value of spending quality time with family. Everyone is constantly looking at the screen at all times. The average screen time is rising significantly each year. So, I suggest lets try having family time without phones or any devices at all. No notifications, no scrolling, just pure and undivided attention to each other. It sounds like almost fictional nowadays. But its still possible. All you need is the will and a lil bit of planning. ANd trust, the benefits are really really worth it!

First lets talk about what are the obstacles or problems we could face when trying to give up this habit. From my personal experience, the first and most biggest one is the FOMO or Fear of Missing Out. Everyone wants to stay updated with whats happening around them at all points and time.

Another challenge is work. Sometimes, it feels like work is always calling you all the time, especially in todays world where work can blend with real life seamlessly.

Now, Let me share how I overcame these obsessions with phones. It was challenging at first, which isnt surprising because of the old habit. But I turned off notifications from almost all apps except important ones like email and calls. It doesnt sound like much but trust that it really works! You’ll see that your bond with your family is slowly slowly improving, and maybe even some laughs. So waiting for what? Family time is precious & its time we made the most of it.

Firstly when we talk we connect. This way we can have more deeper and meaningful conversations. Also, when we spend time without our phones, we are much more happier and less stressed. After you make and strengthen the habit a little bit, it will be very simple to follow. Plus, it will be a great way to model good behaviours for Gen Alpha. They can learn the value of face-to-face connections.

Secondly, I experienced that when I was taking breaks from social media, I felt more satisfied and positive. Even, reducing screen time also lowered my stress levels. It also helped me having a better family time. I can always check out what I missed later. I completely uninstalled Facebook, X, Instagram and everything else except.... Well. . . Telegram. I know it may sound odd to you but you know what? The hamsters are too cute to deny. aww
