BANGLADESH VS SRI-LANKA || FIRST ONE DAY MATCH (ODI) 🏏🏏
The bilateral series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka is going on. The three-match T20 series has already ended. At the same time, the visiting Sri Lankan team won the series by 2-1 after winning the first and third T20 matches. After the T20, it is the turn of the three-match ODI series. For that purpose, the host Bangladesh and the visiting Sri Lankan team took to the field in the first ODI match yesterday. In this match, the host Bangladesh team won the match by performing well in batting, bowling, and fielding!
T20 series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka was held at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, but yesterday's ODI match was held at M.A Aziz Cricket Stadium in Chittagong. Sri Lanka captain Kushal Mendis won the toss and decided to bat at the beginning of the match. The main goal of the team was to put Bangladesh under pressure by batting first. However, the team failed to implement their plan fully.
At the start of the match, two openers Avishka Fernando and Pathun Nishakka came to open for Sri Lanka. These two openers gave Sri Lanka a great start. The two averaged a partnership of 71 runs. However, after a good start, the visitors lost three wickets for just 13 runs. Tanjim Hasan Shakib returned Sri Lanka's top-order batsmen to the pavilion with an excellent performance with the ball. This pacer hunted all three wickets. Later, Kushal Mendis and Janith Liagya's partnership of 70 runs returned Sri Lanka to a good match.
After Kushal Mendis was dismissed for 195 runs, Kushal Mendis and Janith Liagne's 70-run partnership was broken. After that, Sri Lanka's batting disaster began. The team lost one wicket after another and was all out for 255 runs. Shoriful Islam, Taskin Ahmed, and Tanzim Hasan Shakib took three wickets each for Bangladesh. Mehadi Hasan picked up Miraj for one wicket. At the end of the first innings, Bangladesh faced a target of 256 runs.
In reply to Sri Lanka's first innings, Bangladesh got off to bat and started very badly. Liton Kumar Das returned to the pavilion after being bowled on the first ball. Soumya Sarkar and Tawhid Hridoy failed to bat on this day. As a result, the Bangladesh team was under pressure at the beginning of the match. However, after the fall of three wickets, Bangladesh did not have to look back. Nazmul Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim combined for a match-winning partnership of 160+ runs after a 69-run partnership by veteran batsman Mahmudullah Riyad and captain Nazmul Hasan Shanto.
Captain Nazmul Hasan Shanto set a record with the bat in this match. As the captain of Bangladesh, Nazmul Hasan Shanto remained undefeated after playing the highest innings of 122 runs in the match. On the other hand, two experienced batsmen Mahmudullah Riyad and Mushfiqur Rahim gave proper support to Captain Shanto. Mahmudullah Riyad was dismissed for 37 runs but Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten on 73 runs. As a result, despite being under pressure in the beginning, the host Bangladesh team won easily by a margin of six wickets. The captain of Bangladesh was selected man of the match due to his outstanding performance.
Bangladesh Cricket : The Tigers
The improving thing of BD cricket is that they got a new young talent who is performing well and gradually becoming a promising and dependable player.
The second thing is, Middle order got a strength and learning how to play without Shakib Tamim. The sorry fact to watch that, Fizz is way out of form and thats a matter to worry.
I hope he could bounce back and we hopefully get to see a nice XI for the t20 world cup this year.
All the best
Fizz is over, he has lost his caliber completely...
I dont think so, he might be struggling and got rusts in his action and approach, but thats because he focused much on money and got commercialized, lack of practice and inefficacy rate of the cutters he bowls are factors he should deal with.
You can look at Shoriful how he improved as a pacer from being a worn out to a promising bowler. Form might be temporary and all of it can go wrong, but class would remain as it is.
I think the management should give enough time to Fizz until he comes back to his original form.
Hope for the best.
