Session Over!

I'll start by defining the meaning of a session. Luckily, I found a definition online:

A session is a period of time or meeting arranged for a particular activity: I'm having a session with her this afternoon for a briefing.Source

So, it is a common knowledge that a session is a scheduled meeting or an arrangement made for a particular time and a particular place.

Usually there is a purpose for the session, and they usually hope to achieve something from the meeting.

But when a session is over, it means the session has ended literally.

Session timeout represents the event occuring when a user does not perform any action on a web site during an interval (defined by a web server). The event, on the server side, changes the status of the user session to 'invalid'. So, when the session is over it can be presumed that the purpose of the meeting has been accomplished or not, depending on how the session went.
