Hi everyone in the cycling community. It is my utmost pleasure to bring you an eyewitness report of the cycling carnival in my domain. Isiokpo is a village located in the south-south region of Nigeria, precisely River State. This carnival usually happens at the end of the year to commemorate a successful harvest. it is usually a colorful event and this year was not an exception. People will gather to witness the cycling competition.

However, the use of bicycles is a sign of the bicycle's importance in the community, especially in farming. Farm roads are untarred and undeveloped, and, to access those roads, one must either trek or use a bicycle. Most people use bicycles because of the distance.

the role of bicycle in Isiokpo community and its environs cannot be overemphasized. Bicycle serves as a means of transportation to the farm and back from it. it is also a means of transporting farm produce from the farm to the market. Therefore, a bicycle is an important property in this community. Beyond these, it is a means of exercising the body which is why the people in this community are usually healthy both men and women. this is also the reason why people live long and in strength.

Looking at the picture above, one would notice that the carnival is majorly focused on the use of local bicycles. This means that this kind of bicycle is mainly used in the community. Also, the use of traditional outfits portrays the cultural richness of the people in dresses. a typical Isiokpo citizen wears his traditional outfit to the farm and everywhere he goes. They are very rich in their culture be it in food, dress, language and many others.

How the event is organized

At the venue, crops that were harvested are displayed and these crops are usually brought in a bicycle. Crops like cassava, yam, plantain and many others. After prayers have been made by the traditional rulers, the men on bicycles will ride around the community with their food baskets stationed on their bicycles. This is usually occasioned with enormous food going around everyone who participates in the event. The event is usually colourful and also interesting.

All over the world, bicycle plays important roles in all facets of life; culturally, academically, socially, religiously and every aspect you might think of. Therefore, think about visiting Isiokpo kingdom for next year's carnival.
