Tips on how to have a smooth cycling experience plus proper bicycle maintenance
I have been riding my bicycle for over ten years now, and I have gotten the needed experiences of a professional bicycle rider. I ride for various purposes. My bicycle is my primary means of transportation. I ride to work, school, market and everywhere I go so long as the distance is within my capacity to ride. Secondly, I cycle to keep fit. This happens majorky on weekends, precisely every Saturday. I go out with other riders and we will then cover some kilometers and burn out calories.
Maintaining a bicycle for ten years is not an easy task, hence I will share my experiences with people here, especially those willing to get a new bicycle. Buying a new bicycle is one thing, maintaining it is another thing entirely. So many bicycle owners lack this culture, that's why their bicycles do not last a test of time. These are the few steps I have used for this period of ten years.
Avoid riding on a bad road When I talk about bad roads, I mean roads that are not in good condition and shape. Roads that are full of potholes are not healthy with bicycles, so try as much as possible to use alternative roads. What bad roads do to bicycles is that it damages some important parts of the bicycle hence making you spend money fixing them unnecessarily.
Replace or fix the bad parts immediately Ensure that you fix a damaged part of the bicycle immediately after it starts giving you issues. If you don't fix it immediately it will degenerate into a bigger issue that might cost you a lot of money. A stitch in time saves nine.
keep your bicycle clean always For me, I wash my bicycle every Sunday morning. Whenever your bicycle is clean it is attractive and you will be eager to be using it all the time.
develop a good maintenance culture What I do to maintain my bicycle is that I crease the necessary parts, I also ensure that I have my spanner, nuts, and bolts as well as a pump at my disposal, in case I have a flat tire.
Don't ride at night I remember, the first accident I had was at night. Hence to avoid some accidents and bad experiences don't ride at night.
Don't drink and ride, and don't ride when you're drunk This is very important for every rider. Park your bicycle at a friend's place and go home each time you're drunk or tipsy. Don't hit the road , if you do, disaster awaits you.
Little things matter a lot, with these, anyone can have a seamless cycling experience just as I do.
Have a nice time with your bicycle.
Excelente post @ezemann
Saludos 💛.
