Super-Market Friday

I enjoy going to this supermarket. It is located in a residential neighbourhood and because it is a standalone supermarket with a few stores in the ground level, it is not as crowded as the ones located in the malls.

Being a working day here today, the supermarket has barely any shoppers and perfect to get some walking done as well as weekly shopping. I got my produce for the fortnight last week and the produce is still fresh, so I don’t have any fresh produce to buy, but the fruits were a great deal and I got some mandarins and watermelon (summer fruits I know, but they are available throughout the year here).

It is quite impressive most of the beverages and juice here is in glass bottle. But, I feel large supermarket chains should have a recycling station too, so we can drop the empty jars and bottles there and don’t have to make a separate trip to the recycling station.

I forgot to take a picture at the supermarket, but I bought a Mango chili sauce for about 9 AED from the international food section, and it was absolutely the best mango chili sauce I have ever had.

And how could I leave without getting some chocolates, I prefer to check the deals section before I shop the aisles. And I got some 50% dark chocolates since it was a good deal, and I skipped the aisles.

The outdoor section of the supermarket generally gets bare by the second week of January. But I think the best time to buy from the outdoor section is during the summer months, when the temperatures reach over 47 degree Celsius and the price of these products drop by 50% or more. At this time of the year, it is not worth buying them. But if you are going camping or a barbeque and have to make a purchase for this season, then the prices here is much better than the other supermarkets.

The billing is always very quick here. There are no queues and the staff are polite and helpful. And since this is the end of the year, and I had some points at the store, I redeemed my points and I didn’t have to pay anything for the 2 pizzas and 2 bags of crisps and chips and chocolates for the rest of the month. The perfect kind of guilt free shopping.

Just like you, I also like going to groceries or malls on weekdays because there are less people and the queues at the cashier is short or none! I like how the supermarket is clean and organized too. Did you bring your own grocery bag or is that from the supermarket?

Hello! Hello! Market Friday is running so late this week, I apologize for the delay in answering and I hope you know how much I appreciate the great participation.

I try to let people know how much I appreciate their participation in #MarketFriday! Even though I get many on a weekly basis, each one is read and enjoyed. I enjoy learning about the world and how it is to live in your corner of it, and if there are solutions to making it better in any way. I find it interesting to compare, not by the world's standards, but, by how we find the quality of our life with different indicators than the world does. It is not always about the wealth in money, sometimes money means very little when there is no value behind it. You cannot buy health although you can take care of what you have. Being educated isn't always about schooling, but acquiring knowledge and using it for the better good and happiness of the society you are living in. It is with great pleasure that I read through this and all of the posts, with these thoughts in mind.

Don't miss the small things in your life, they usually make no noise but can be indicators of bigger things. I enjoy learning more about you and hope you feel the same, that is why I find it important to take the time to read a couple of #MarketFriday posts and leave a genuine comment. It is important for a community to do this, learning about others, and getting to know each other. The fun is in getting to know people and making a positive contribution to community life. All this fun and money too. What is not to love? That is one of the reasons I joined Hive. How about you? :) I leave you with the guidelines. I hope you are having an amazing week!

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:

Rules of the Road to Join #MarketFriday!

  1. Go to the market, or anywhere that you pay money for a service. It can be a movie, an auction, or even a museum. Wherever money is exchanged for a service or product.
    Take pictures! Be creative!
  2. Tell us a little bit about the market or the event. What brought you there? What did you buy? How much did it cost? Was it expensive? Did it go up or down? A scroll of pictures with few words doesn't usually work.
  3. Post the pictures. Of course, you should tell a little bit about the ones you post, it is too difficult to guess about some.
  4. Use the MarketFriday Community Platform to post (#hive-196308) This is not required but appreciated.
PLEASE Drop the link into the MarketFriday comment section so I can find it!!
  5. Following me and reblogging the post would be appreciated, but not a rule, more vision for more views on the #MarketFriday posts!
    7. You must put #MarketFriday by @dswigle somewhere on your post.

As always, please remember! #MarketFriday loves you!
