Lily pod

Lily pod bw 5.jpg

There are a few quite large lily plants growing in one part of my mums garden. She is so proud of them, and it doesn't surprise me. Thick stems, bushy leaves, and very big flowers that spread their intense fragrance around.

I didn't get to see them last year, but I did get to see the seed pods they produce. Some time ago, I thought they were Iris pods. But the place they grew didn't fit. Only much later (like a few years) I figured out that's lilies - they still had some leaves on, which gave them away :)

My trusty Nikon and Sigma 105 were with me that day. Nice, soft light and tall trees in the background were enough to catch some bokeh. But I still had to do some stretches to catch them on the right able - that is always fun (probably even more for people that pass by and wonder when the hell am I doing).

The pods themselves are really big! I don't think my mum ever picks the seeds or tries to grow them from seed. It's just too much work and waiting for them to grow to the proper size, I guess. But she does leave them in the harden until spring. So if there is some lucky one that manages to sprout near the mother plant, she will leave it aloe and let it grow. She has a bit of a wild, self-maintained garden, I would say :)

This one slowly started to crack open. Many were still green and the seeds still needed some time to mature.

The spiderweb is also cool there, stretching between the seedpods.
Ah, so your mom doesn't like to grow plants from seeds...?

She grows the annuals. So she can sow in different spots every time and that's it. I think lilies take longer time so she prefers to buy a plant if she likes it.

Plants changing the spot in the garden is nice. Always a fresh and different look :))

My parent's dog discovered digging in the soil this year, after so many years that he didn't do it... so my mother also has to change places for plants and put little fences around them hahaha

My mom loves gardening too. But sometimes she had a hardtime mixing soils for she had an arthritis.

This lily of yours is really different. This is the first time I saw lilies growing like this in our place. Maybe a bit different depends on the climate. 😊

It must be beautiful because your mom loves growing this.

It is very pretty when in bloom with huge flowers. I am sure your mom would love it too.

Beautiful portrait of the flower, the flower that hatched next to it is very similar to a spider's web, it's so cool my brother @ewkaw 😍🥰😊

This type of flower looks beautiful and attractive with a neat appearance. This type of flower, sis @ewkaw, seems to be rare in my country... 👍

Yes, that's right, sis @ewkaw, especially since the climate here is tropical, so there are many flowers growing in various types and shapes.... Thank you very much for your kind words, sis 🙏
