FungiFriday - Amanitas kingdom

White amanita pl 8.jpg

You know (or not) that some mushrooms create large circles when they grow. It's often called a "fairy circle" for some reason. I haven't seen them for a long time until I got to know such things existed. Then I started to notice it. Especially with the large white ones, obviously they are the easiest to spot, and the circle of white hats is the most visible. Please google the term and you will see some cool images with a full circle.

These amanitas were growing in the woods among some lower bushes. I could see part of the fairy circle, but not the whole thing. There were too many other plants around, but it was clear that they created the round shape as well.

I believe this is Amanita citrina, a quite common one in Polish woods when the weather is right. Large white hats that can reach the size of a grapefruit (at least that's the largest I saw) standing on long, slim legs. Beautiful, clean mushroom.

White mushroom with a slightly darker pattern. We are (or just me maybe) used to seeing the red ones with white spots. The spots on both types are made the same way - it is a leftover from the egg that mushrooms hatch from. This is the easiest way to say it.
In a more professional way:

After emerging from the ground, the cap is covered with numerous small white to yellow pyramid-shaped warts. These are remnants of the universal veil, a membrane that encloses the entire mushroom when it is still very young.

I look at it and I keep seeing cookies... damn! 🤤

A tiny little ones without the cracks.

Speaking of a red one - not far from it I found one, but I am not quite sure if it is amanita or Russula aurea according to some Google results.
Nevertheless, the colour on it is great!

Awesome Amanitas. I haven't seen any today, but they're good models, especially the red ones. Do I recall right that you said the red ones always hide from you? If so, this was your lucky day :)

Well... almost lucky. It is more likely it is not red amanita at all :D

Oh well, at least it looks like one. I found some without the red pigment last week. Still babies

I must admit that I had never heard of this terminology "fairy circle" and much less that it had to do with the growth of fungi, you are very right, I saw what it means on the internet and the images it has are surprising
You have found very beautiful mushrooms, I like their shapes and the texture of their caps
Thank you very much dear friend @ewkaw for sharing this great information
May you enjoy the weekend

I hope you will find it one day. Now that you know it exists and how it looks like it should be easier :)
Have an awesome weekend as well.

I honestly don't understand anything, mushrooms with a universal veil and a fairy circle...🤔 I think I'm going to sleep, because I feel like I'm in Lord of the Rings.

And now I just saw an arepa 😲

Indeed, the mushroom looks like a cookie. The main thing is not to eat it😄 Cool photos.

Fairy Circle, mushrooms name is very unique and as for me, the reason why it called its name because according to the stories or fairytale stories we seen, watched and read it is a place were dwarfs and other element creature lives. 😁

Interesting how such a small and nice looking fungi can be one of the deadliest as well, here in sLOVEnia we don't have much poisonous animals, but we do have a ton of these

Any edible hunting this year ?

The amanita mushrooms that you photographed are beautiful! I especially like the white ones with the slightly darker pattern. They look like cookies, just like you said
