Euphorbia and friends
I have always liked the tiny, weird looking Euphorbia flowers. This is my excuse for the number of photos.
I could not stop!
And after I thought I was done, I took a few more :p
Just because.
Euphorbia cyparissias
It is commonly known as cypress spurge and it can be found all over Europe and North America.
It likes open, sunny spaces, and I can be almost sure to find it on the side of the woods or fields. And as with any weed, it will grow where it can spreading the seeds freely.
The large group of them I found on the edge of the forest, growing in quite sandy soil. It doesn't mind. It will bloom from spring through the hot days of summer.
The flowers are just a few mm across and they blend with the outside leaves. The light green colour is quite pretty, and with the thousands of them blooming next to each other - it is quite the show.
It is not very tall, maybe 20–30 cm. Thin stems and needle like leaves in dark green contain a milky substance that will leak after the plant is wounded.
This plant has several irritants. The milky sap is a skin irritant that can cause burns/blisters in some individuals. Late season mature bracts have tiny hair like barbs. Once they are in your skin can cause mild irritation that can last for years

Yep, not as innocent as it looks.
Time for the visitors as there were plenty. Bees, flies, ants, and all kinds of little creepy buggers were feeding on the sap and nectar.
Lastly a nice graphic to show the whole plant since I didn't pull any with roots to shoot :p

Skin irritant? Then it's better you continue just with taking photos of this not so innocent plant. Don't touch ;)
Apparently.. but now I remember that as a kid I was picking it.. just to see the white milk. I am still here :P
You are not sensitive to it then ;)
Nice photos, but you need to be careful with this plant. 😀
Thanks! I am definitely not gonna eat it :p
It's beautiful in this season and the bees are happily sipping the nectar, but it's still dangerous to get close.
Not that dangerous... just can irritate a bit. I think I was picking it as a kid and I am still alive :p
thank goodness, but they are indeed very beautiful
Wow, I think we have the exact same thing growing in our driveway... I did not know they can be a skin irritant. Thanks for that bit of info!
Lovely photos, though!
=^..^=
I am sure you do have it! It is so common.
You're welcome and thanks :)
Interesting flowers. I don’t know if we have these around the countryside. But they look familiar. Nice photos.
Hmm I am not sure if you'd have that there. Maybe a similar specie?
Euphorbia is a strikingly beautiful plant. Unfortunately the spurges are prolific and are wreaking havoc where I live.
Apparently, people imported spurges for their beauty ... when they escape the garden they wreak havoc in the wild.
They aren't just prolific. Spurges have a toxic sap that is harmful to animals that did not co-evolve with the plant.

Good morning dear friend @ewkaw how are you?
I love wild plants, especially when their flowers are simply beautiful.
How great that you found this beautiful plant and were able to take this beautiful photo session. It's incredible that something so beautiful can hurt.
Have a happy and prosperous week
Thank you! It is very common around and blooming for a long time.
Have a great week yourself.
The lighting condition in your photographs is absolutely perfect. Due to which life has been breathed into your photographs. Green color and green background make the photograph more beautiful. @ewkaw
Thank you! The light was very nice indeed :)
Hello @ewkaw
What a pity that you cannot touch these beautiful flowers with your hands, what I like most when walking through the brown is touching the flowers with my hands, in this case it would be very painful
What a beautiful plant you have found, and what beautiful photographs you take.
You can touch them :) Just be careful with the "milk". It wont kill you, just might irritate the skin.
