Dead plants high season

Unless you live in a very hot and dry country where dead plants cant be found all year round, autumn is the time when the nature slowly prepares for winter and sooner or later everything will be dead. What was blooming in spring and summer now is dropping seeds. Leaves are changing colours and dry up. It is a great time for #drystuff :)

I took a short walk at my hometown to a place where clay used to be dug up. Huge holes were left after the business closed and they slowly filled up with water. Later fish were introduced, flogs and birds moved in and all kinds of plants started to grow around. Large areas with tall grasses and bushes are perfect for birds to nest - there I don't go. It is so dense it is impossible to walk. But there are pats around, even little platforms for people that would like to go fishing.

For me it is a place to enjoy the silence, birds and wind.

And I always take tremendous amount of photos. What else? :)

The first image is Thrift after blooming. I think inside the little cups are seeds. Nice, little balls that feel like this foil almost.

The ones below used to be yellow and I used to remember their name :p

The thorny Teasel is probably prettier now than when it blooms. Extremely stiff and sharp needles might look fluffy and nice, but they are mean! The stems are covered in very short and also very short thorns. Lovely plant if you are just looking.

Some brown leaves (trust me, they were brown!) that didn't fall from the tree yet. Some stronger winds will do the job when the right time comes.

And lastly Rosehip that will feed some hungry birds during the winter. Multiple bushes that seeded themselves around look pretty right now. They slowly lose the leaves and the red beads are really eye-catching.

They are also good to make tea for humans ;)

Rosehips are good for a few other things too, including jams, syrups, soups, wine. Even for pálinka, which is a popular fruit brandy in my country (in Hungary).

Very versatile! I remember my grandfather used to pick them to make tea. We didn't try any of the other things. They are also used in cosmetics.
The fruit brandy sounds great! :D

All lovely photos of those plants yielding to the rigours of the weather.... I love that kind of monochromatic tonality you have given them.... It's like a wonderful "vintage" tone....

You are lucky to have such places nearby and like to go on photo walks there!...

Thanks for sharing @ewkaw friend!

It is a great place at any time of the year. Very calm, quiet and very close to home.

I don't celebrate Halloween, but I see what you mean :)
The spiky ones make a great decoration too.

You ever strum the little tines of the dried teasel? It sounds musical. Almost metallic, like strumming one of those egg slicer thingies.

That I didn't try... I hope I remember next time I see it and before it pierces my fingers :p

You are right about living in a hot and dry country where we are seeing these images during the summer when everything is burned out... Because of that, we had that "sweet period" of time after summer, before winter, when everything is green again! I have created a post on that topic 2 days ago, completely opposite to your #drystuff post :)

Btw. doing these photos in B/W gave another level of "dryness" :) Great photos! Thanks for sharing!

I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project which will be highlighted in the next post!

Yeaaa as much as I like to shoot the dry pods and dead plants too, I need green. Summer here (Portugal and Spain) is way to long and way too dry. Now the green time starts :)
I go look for your posts now :p

Thank you! :)

It is a perfect transition in season as you captured these contrasting black and white images.

Would be so nice to see them in snow too :)

Here we will never see snow, being a tropical country, where there are only two seasons, summer and rainy season.

I loved the black and white work in your photographs, they bring out the textures. Very nice. Best regards.
