Come at me, bro!

Misumena vatia crab spider flower 5.jpg

He thought he could scare me :p

Spreading his skinny legs as wide as possible to make him look bigger. It probably works for other spiders, but not a determined stalker with a camera - me.

And so we stayed like that for a while... me shooting and him waving at me in hope I would just walk away.

Misumena vatia crab spider flower 6.jpg

This is Misumena vatia a pretty common crap spider. Or at least I often see it, especially on white flowers where he can camouflage pretty well. Since he doesn't catch his food with spiderwebs, he has to be nearly invisible, and he waits for some fly or a bee to come closer so he can jump on it and kill it.

He even has tiny little veins on his body imitating the ones on the flower petals.

And then he decided to hide. Enough of sun and some annoying human is scaring all the flies.

He crawled inside the cluster of flowers, got himself all nice and comfy...

...and looked at me with these tiny like little amber beads eyes :)

And white I was busy shooting the little creature, I was siltley watched by another one:

My spidey senses were tingeling when I read the title and totally expected a #caturday post... lol

I've always been wondering though... these exact crab spiders seem to exist in white, green and yellowish-green variations... are those the same kind just somehow camouflaging with their environment or are those individual species looking for a habitat that fits their colour?!?

Beautiful spiders that have attractive colors blend in with their resting place.

The tiny spider is very cute and full of spirit! He’s a real fighter! I hope he would survive in the wilderness for many years and grow much bigger.
The other day I found a large brown spider by the washing machine! He’s so fast.

Good morning dear friend @ewkaw
There are several things that catch my attention about this beautiful spider, it is incredible that it does not have spider webs to catch its food, and that it is so capable of camouflaging itself as it does, it is a master at disguise.
I love the photos you have been able to take of it.
I take this opportunity to wish you a beautiful Sunday

I don't know if I'm the only one who is afraid of white spiders, they look dangerous for me 😄. But it is amazing how the spider tried to hide within those white flowers...

Oh wow! These macros of the spider are fantastic. And that spider itself - amazing how its white body is so similar to the flowers, great camouflage.

I also consider myself a

a determined stalker with a camera

and this little bugger would have succeeded with me. I would have skedaddled quickly. Outta here. Later!

Oh, and the bonus picture - totally could have fooled everyone 😋

I don't know how you can spot these spiders among the white flowers... you have eagle eyesight.

I like it very much! Yay! 😂 Also bird watching.
