Blue Campanula lusitanica.

Campanula lusitanica blue flower 5.jpg

In a large area filled with bushes, wildflowers, trees and grasses this was the only spot with these blue little stars. And I only saw them because I wanted to shoot another plant that was growing right next to it.

Campanula lusitanica

I can't find much information about this plant online besides that it is native to Portugal. I guess it is possible it also grows in Spain because of similar climate.

It is a small plant with long, thin flower stems and very intense purplish-blue flowers. Blooming starts around April and lasts until the end of June. It can be found in poor soil and some clearer areas around pines. I have found it in two spots like that.

The flowers are not very big, maybe 2 cm across, but the colour makes the very visible and the stems reach maybe 25 cm in height.

Such a beautiful flower. I must say haven’t seen it around. My area in Spain yet. It doesn’t look familiar.
Will keep an eye out on our walks.
Thanks for sharing @ewkaw.

A beautiful and simple flower, I think that I have never seen it.
The first photo is the one that I like most.
Best regards.

I don't see them here very often. They probably bloom for a short time only.
Thank you :)

What they lack in size, they make up for it in colour. Nature is fair. 😊
