Madagascar Jewel
Mom brought me a massive Madagascar Jewel plant, along with a few smaller ones, as a housewarming gift. The big boy jewel is actually three different ones that we repotted into a wider and taller planter so they would hold up better.
To get a better idea how big this thing is, we used 35 kilos of new soil, along with what was already in with the plant earlier. I’ve been wanting me a big plant and while I was thinking of something like a monstera or fiddle leaf fig, I’m not mad about this one.
I have owned, grown and killed off several jewels already, and so has mom, because they are pretty easy and thus not that precious. They produce lots of seeds that spurt out from the plant so even if you don’t try to grow new ones, you’ll probably get some.
Leaves of this big ass Madagascar jewel are pointing every which way because it’s been in transport and packed up for a few days, so it’ll take some time until it’ll look brighter and happier. I’ve found that they do turn towards light pretty fast so I think it’ll look way better in a few days.
I’m a huge fan of exotic plants, the bigger and wilder they are, the better. Now that I live in an actual house and not an apartment, I can get a lot more plants and have at least the south facing rooms look like a jungle.
That is huge.
Hope the poor plant will survive.
