No, not Christmas you silly goose, don’t be one of those people!

Let’s deal with autumn darkness before Christmas, please and thank you. With the daylight hours dwindling down rapidly all the way down to a few hours in these latituted, comes the advantage of enjoying the moody dark evenings.

We are not complete cave trolls in here but enjoy the romantic moody candlelight instead of putting on all the possible lights. I don’t believe you should save your candles for a special occasion, just enjoy them when ever it’s dark and you don’t need that much light. I am partial to having some very dark but sweet scented candles around to scent the house.

I finally invested in some LED candles to go along with the real ones to be more safe and for ease of use. I was quite hesitant at first but then I saw @kommienezuspadt mention he uses LED candles too and if it’s good enough for his dark pin up photos, it’s good enough for me. Many of the candles I’ve seen have a flat wick/flame which looks pretty bad but I finally found a ”3D” one from a brand called Uyuni where the light moves in a way that looks pretty darn good, and the candle is real wax on the surface too. I now keep one of the candles on my bedside table when I go to sleep because it’s very pleasant even if I fall asleep before turning it off.

I might do a little DIY at some point by pouring some wax on the sides to make them look even more real but for now I’m really impressed and I’ll be getting more before the holiday season.

Another way to enjoy a nice dark evening at home is to have a hot cup of mulled wine. I always get the Blossa mulled wine as soon as it comes in stores with their themed yearly edition, this time it’s New Orleans.

Happy dark times my northern hemisphere friends!

P.S. the succulent in the corner is not doing good.

I love scented candles and romantic moodlit evenings too. I make a point of it as a spoil myself moment. I love that candle sconce you have, it's really ornate and lovely.

I absolutely love Jasmine and Vanilla Cinnamon. I found some the other day that I still need to try, they're biscuit scented. Should be nice for christmas vibes.

Those sconces are becoming scarce these days so you picked up a great find!

What the fuck's up with people? I've seen stores with aisles full of Christmas shit...dude, this isn't America, what the hell?

Aaanyway, your home is gorgeous (especially if it's got mulled wine). I've got the same issue with safe candles, they don't look real. With a real one, you can just stare into the flame, and sort of imagine the doom of the entire human civilization. You know, it's got personality.

Still, I guess yours look pretty good. also, help that succulent :P like water it, or feed it a small mammal, or whatever you do with them.

I could not agree any less with you. I remember when my parents used candles for dark nights and told us scary stories as well. For me, the candles made the stories even scarier.
