Damn You CrowdStrike!
If you've been following my blog on Hive for a bit, you'll know about my issues with Coinbase which I used to use to buy crypto and turn it into $HIVE.
After they switched to using the creepy, privacy-stealing, bicycle-seat-sniffing Plaid service, I've been on the hunt for a new less-KYC'd way to grow my Hive account. I'd initially found a crypto ATM that fit the bill (for transactions under $1000), when all of a sudden, it required ID for ALL purchases.
So the hunt began anew.
I'd heard of a possible new ATM that met the criteria, and finally got the chance to try it out yesterday... I was happily surprised that the transaction went through without a hitch, and happily awaited the arrival of my Bitcoin which I planned to turn into some much-needed $HIVE.
At that point as I was paying for my sandwiches and preparing to leave, I spied a sign that was taped to the side of the machine. It said that due to the IT situation, crypto transactions could take "at least" 24 hours to go through.
Checking with the clerk, I found out that the "IT situation" was the dreaded...
CROWDSTRIKE!
EGAD! Lol!
I hadn't realized that this sneaky little update would affect crypto ATMs as well as banks and other institutions. I'd also thought it was a weekend thing, and of course when the "Dudes Named Ben" (fans of the NoAgenda show podcast will get this reference from the original clip)
I don't know where the "Dudes" were, but they sure as hell didn't have things "up and running" by the time I paid for my crypto.
So now we're in day 2 waiting for my test purchase to go through with no end in sight, considering that many other industries are STILL down.
But at some point hopefully in the near future, someday my BTC will come and I can begin the process of turning it into $HIVE.
When it Comes to Hive: Persist
Growing your Hive account allows you to offer even more support to our amazing content creators. Increasing my HP is one of my long-term goals which will enable me to do exactly that.
More Hive Power means fatter upvotes to motivate good authors to publish even more on this amazing platform, and that's what I aim to do over time, and I invite you to join me in that endeavor.
It's odd that every time I'm able to start buying our token, something always seems to come up. But like in an incident involving a well-known Senator, Nevertheless, I Persist. :)

Sure hope your BTC comes through soon. Personally we didn't see any impact from the outage caused by Crowdstrike update, but I know there were major impacts based on the news. As far as HP, I am adding from my own funds when I have some to spare and adding the rest through rewards. My goal is 5K by December and think I will make it.
That's a good goal to have, and looking at your numbers. looks very reachable too! :) I was surprised that crypto ATMs were affected, as I assumed they all ran on some custom form of Linux or Unix. The thing I'm happy about is that it requires no KYC, not even a phone number. At least now I have something to look foward to every day because it hasn't arrived yet. But I found my ATM, and I'm happy for that. :)
