The helmet is the most important you should have. I've seen people riding without using their helmets. It is very common among young people, which is very bad. As a cyclist make sure you choose a good helmet that best fit your head and has high quality
and make sure it's in good condition with no cracks, dents, or worn-out pads.

Visibility and Awareness
While riding on the road, you should be visible by wearing bright and reflective clothing. And while riding at night you should have a light and a reflection on your bike. Be aware of your surroundings while riding, keeping an eye out for potential hazards like potholes, gravel, speed pumps and others.

Road Awareness and Etiquette
Riding bicycles shouldn't neglect the traffic laws, ride with traffic and respect other road users. You can use your hand to give signals where necessary to indicate your intention. Eye contact is necessary to keep in touch with motorists to ensure they see you.then take note of bending corners, roundabouts and use caution when riding through these areas.

Defensive Riding Techniques
Be ready to face some challenges on the road, knowing that there are potholes and other hazards, make use of your brakes and position your body well to navigate through this area. a vehicle avoids any form of distraction like using your phone, or eating on the road while riding.

Additional Safety Tips

Regular bike maintenance is very important and ensures your safety, so make sure to check your bike on a regular basis for wear and tear. Ride safely in different weather conditions by adjusting your speed limit to fit in the weather.

Cycling safety is a top priority, every cyclist should be cautious of and by following these essential tips and precautions, you can minimize your risk of getting injured or in an accident. True, periodic checkups are very important. Sometimes before leaving home I have detected minor problems that are better to solve before leaving home, even something basic, like tire pressure. Good reminders. Regards @etorobong

just like with cars, checking tire pressure with bicycles is a necessary thing!
Tires with too less pressure can slow you down and eventually cause punctures; the so-called "snake bite" (when your inner tube gets pressed against the rim of the wheel).

Correct. It is more difficult to pedal with lack of proper pressure. You have to work harder. And it is avoided in a simple way, by prevention.

Great advice. You can use daytime flashing lights too, it helps catch drivers attention.
