Around The World: Challenge - #9/5. Дворец в Твери - Palace in Tver
| Hello everyone! |
| The Tver Imperial Travel Palace is an architectural monument of the 18th century and one of the main attractions of Tver. My friend and I arrived in Tver on June 30, 2023. Of course, the palace was part of our plans. |
| The Imperial Travel Palace was built in Tver in 1764-1766 for the rest of members of the imperial family on the way from St. Petersburg to Moscow. In the 19th century it was rebuilt several times. |
| At the beginning of the 19th century, the palace was not only a place for relaxation; the sister of Alexander I, Ekaterina Pavlovna, who was married to the Tver governor Georg of Oldenburg, lived here. For the palace, these were the times when it became one of the centers of the country's social life. The highest society of Tver gathered here, many prominent people from Moscow and St. Petersburg came. |

| Now the palace houses a regional art gallery. My friend and I went into the palace to admire the beautiful interiors. But the museum turned out to be very interesting from the point of view of its fine art collection. Both in quality and quantity. We spent about 3 hours exploring the exhibition. And it was worth it. |
| When we left the museum and headed into the garden, the rain had already stopped. This was just the period when mock orange was flowering. These are white and very fragrant flowers, which in our places are called jasmine (although, in fact, it does not belong to jasmine). |
| Beautiful flowering garden and beautiful architecture. |

| Under Soviet rule in 1935, the Transfiguration Cathedral, which stood in the courtyard of the palace, was blown up. But it was recently restored. In this photo, the domes of the cathedral are visible behind the palace building. |
