Vegetables In The Garden
A couple of days ago I promised you I will show you the vegetable garden and today I'd like to do that. Let's start at the beginning.
Last time I showed you this weeds sheet and was empty as the melon and honeydew seedlings were still small, too small. But since then, enough time passed for them to grow stronger and they are in the ground now. Yay, everything seems to be going perfectly, but is it?
After I took the first photo, the next morning, I saw this rout on the weeds sheet. That's not some kind of abstract art.
It was done by this little guy, who's up to no good. They eat the seedlings, till there's nothing left of them.
These are the seedlings, still small and vulnerable. If you have a close look, there are those blue granules on the sheet, those are for the snails. It's the only way to protect the seedlings.
Beans are looking very good, no problem with them and I hope we won't end up like last year, when due to extreme heat and very strong sunlight, the flowers basically got burnt.
Watering is still a must as rain is a scarce asset.
Tomatoes have grown quite a lot and they are at a phase, where they need to be tied to the net, to help them grow upwards. These are running tomatoes, not the type that grows on the ground. I don't like those. We had those for a few years, but these are way better. The rope we used to tie up the tomatoes are also recycled. These are the ropes used to tie hay. Still usable, so perfect for the job.
Basil is growing nicely as well, we need it for the tomato sauce we're making each year. It's excellent for pizza and different kind of pasta dishes.
The main veggie here is a kohlrabi, but there were empty spots, so those were filled with basil and pepper. Kohlrabi is looking nice.
Peppers are still small, I suppose they don't grow as fast as the rest of the seedlings, but there's still time.
This is the dill, that is growing wildly. It's a green spice we have each year.
Potatoes are big, at least the part above the ground, but you know that's not the part we eat. Most likely a month or a month and a half is still needed, but can't wait to have some potato with parsley, or just fried potatoes.
This is kind of a shame. It supposed to be carrots and parsley, but trust me, this is already way better than in the past few years. Something is not right, either the soil or the seeds, although we have tried all kinds of seeds and none of them have worked. This is not our problem as the neighbors are facing the same difficulties, so I suppose it's the soil.
We already had onions from the garden and it's a good feeling to harvest your own veggies. Most likely at the end of July we can harvest all of it.

We still have some spare seedlings, in case something bad happens, but better not. There was no hailing this year, nor storm to disturb the garden, but who knows.

Your garden looks great! You'll be harvesting in no time at all. I have a little tomato plant I started from a cherry tomato. Unfortunately the deer got a hold of it and now it is half the size it used to be. There are still a few flowers in the lower branches. I'm hoping it'll recover.
Thank you @epodcaster. Harvesting comes in waves, but still, there's still a month or two. I'm sorry to hear about the damage the deer did, that must be frustrating. We only have the snails to fight with.
Good crop land, everything looks well growing and fertile, hopefully you can reap a satisfactory harvest
There's a lot of work, behind what you see. preparations as well. We shall see at the end of the season.

I really admire how Healthy your gardening are. You really have lots of vegetables grown here. One thing that I've learnt that I want to practice is using the spread of rubber mulching. I've tried in my farm before and I know the purpose is for it to conserve the moisture content even if there is less rain. Over hear, the running tomatoes seeds are scarce i have been searching but I don't get some over here so we have access for the short ones.

Rubber mulching seems like a good solution first, but has so many disadvantages that I would not use it. Better something organic.
We have so many seeds here, one can hardly choose. All kinds of seeds from all over the world, wall of seeds. I hope you can get some.

i thought you only grow cucumbers, but there are many plants in the field..hope you get a good harvest this season.
Having such a big garden and growing only cucumbers would not make sense.

Hi @erikah like this tomato very good care and quite good this really makes me want to know how many months it has been because my tomatoes yesterday I have now started harvesting but the price is still not satisfactory

What an amazing looking garden. We only have a couple of tomato plats this year because our neighbors both have amazingly large gardens like yours. They typically share their bounty with all their other neighbors, like us. When we had our garden last year, we ended up with too much. THey are much older than us, but love to grow and give from their garden, so we will let them😀.

Snail bait kinda sucks but so does having your whole crop ruined by the buggers!
