Six
No, I'm not going to write about Six, the highly-skilled assassin in the deep-cover Sierra program of the CIA in The Gray Man . Not today, as today's post is dedicated to a totally different topic.
Yesterday I got a notification from Hivbuzz, that made me smile.
I knew my Hive anniversary was on the 20th of January, but with the constant rush, I don't keep count of the days and honestly, when the day came, I forgot. For me, it already seems like New Year's Eve was a lifetime ago and whenever I hear someone saying Happy New Year, I think they went nuts as that was ages ago. Yet today it's just the 21th of January. Time flies.
Thanks to Hivebuzz, I now have 6 cakes in my collection, one nicer than the other. They say you can't have the cake and eat it too, so I decided to keep them all as I can't eat sugar anyway 😁
This is why I celebrated my Hive Birthday with this beautiful apple. Yes, it's an apple, not a cake, this is all I can afford right now due to my challenge, but no worries as I'm more than ok with it. All the rest on the photo is just for decoration purpose too, as I didn't have champagne or Cuban cigar either.
Seeing the badge instantly made me go back in time, take a trip down memory lane and remember how the whole thing started and the journey I've had since then on the platform.
Yesterday I was thinking how I could define life, if I were to use only one word and I think, that word would be "challenge". Life is a huge challenge in my eyes, from the beginning to the end and Hive is not any different.
For me it started out as a challenge as my primary goal was to practice English and have some fun as well. I said if I can get better at writing in English, it's already a win for me, but what I was about to discover, exceeded my expectations. Yes, my expectations were pretty low back then. There are not high now either, and I look at everything I get as a gift.
I was pretty new to crypto back then and I remember, the first week on the (legacy) chain ended with me having a headache every single day. Everything was so confusing, especially when it came to the financial part. Steem, SP, SBD, all these terms and how the rewards were distributed seemed very complicated, but this was not the first challenge of my life, so I made it a priority to understand and learn what each means, how Steem works and how to ride those waves to my advantage. It was the best decision I could make.
Over the years I met a lot of interesting people and had the chance to know them a bit better throughout their posts as well. This platform has the advantage of connecting people from all over the world, gives you the chance to know other cultures and learn about how real life looks like in other parts of the world. Also made a few good friends and most likely I'm going to meet them in real life at some point.
Over the 6 years that has just passed, I can say I did things I would have never imagined I could. Right at the beginning, due to the influence of an old friend of mine, I started drawing, although I have zero talent. It was a lot of fun and gave me the confidence to keep practicing. Every failure was a lot of fun and this is why I know one day, when I'll have more time, I'm going to continue practicing, not because I want to become an artist, but because it's relaxing and it'd a lot of fun.
Then due to the needlework community influence on me and guided by YouTube videos, I started learning sewing during the covid lockdown. I don't have big dreams, like becoming a fashion designer, as many are dreaming about it here, I just wanted to see if I have what it takes to create something. I learnt to create bags and sold them to the US, Italy and locally. The biggest win of this was to not be afraid of the sewing machine and that I can fix what I need at home, plus create small things for myself.
Photography is something I started to be interested in more seriously, after I joined the legacy chain. I started to pay attention to details around me and took photos wherever I went and saw something interesting. Today however, I'm on a different level and I'm glad I had the chance to meet a lot of very talented photographers in the community, read their posts daily and learn from them. It helped me quite a lot.
Then I had the chance to work on different projects and maybe my tiny contribution helped in building something good on chain. Hive is a web3 platform, we are the ones building it, one way or the other. We come from different fields, everyone is good at something, so there's room for everyone to contribute.
Most of the projects were new to me, so I had to figure out what and how, learn quite a lot and this was (still is) the most interesting part. Every project is a challenge and learning the ropes makes you one step closer to knowing something new every day, being better every day, while contributing to making this place better as well.
I'm grateful to have been given the chance to be part of a strong community, that changes lives, literally. I'm glad I could witness how the community effort helped so many people in difficult situations and still continues to do so. No matter where the problem is, there's always help on its way in one form or another. I had the chance to ask for help, in order to be able to hep others, from people I've never been in contact with or known previously and see them selflessly jump to help those in need, even though they didn't know the person eider. This is the biggest win in my eyes and a treasure not every community has.
I think it's fair to mention the bumpy period in which the community decided to take a different path in order to keep the chain decentralized. I had the chance to decide if I want to stay on the legacy chain, or move to Hive and here I am. Do I regret my decision? Not for a second! It was the best decision and that was the time when the community showed the world what it is capable of.
It's been six years already and only heaven knows how many are left for me. I want to say thank you to those who've been with me and wish everyone a pleasant journey! Thank you!

Happy Hive birthday, @erikah 🤓
Life and all its moments can be seen as a challenge, as Hive too, then we indeed grow, learn, adapt, shape ourselves, improve, support and learn to be grateful. We hope many, many more Hive birthdays for you and all of us 😉
Thank you @mipiano! As you say, everything is a challenge, even Hive. And let's hope many more years are to come for us on Hive 💪😉
Congratulations on your 6th anniversary at Hive. From what I've been able to read you've experienced a lot in Hive and I'm glad to know that you still have intentions to keep drawing.
Thank you! You're right, a lot of things happened in six years. Drawing is relaxing and I'm planning to resume it, just need more time.
Happy Hive Birthday ☺️
Congratulations I pray you keep going higher in all ramifications. 6 years isn’t easy and I love you are doing so well ☺️
Thank you @beeeee, 6 years isn't easy, but if you like what you do, it's nothing and trust me, there are a lot of good things packed in those 6 years.
Congratulations! You certainly made the right move and I'm glad we get to grow together. So many things happened, eh? Even on a personal level. Almost as if time is moving too fast. Learned so many things, did so many things. Here's to more!
Many thanks @blind-spot and I'm also glad we get to grow together! Indeed, so many things happened, good and bad too. Let's hope the journey ahead of us is long! Here's to more! As you say!
Really good to see that you're 6 years old on Hive, I joined in last March and still I am searching and learning about this platform because it is very deep and wide ranged for those who want to raise their voices in front of unique audience as we have here.
Happy 6th Hive anniversary/Birthday 🎂🎈 haha
Wish you keep getting all of your goals.
Thank you @nabbas0786! It's a complex platform and it takes time to understand how things work. But you'll get there. Let me know if you have any questions.
Yea I have one common question possibly every new person's question.
How can we maximise our rewards on our Blogs? I'm writing from last 8 months but not getting many in return.
Thank you 😊
I'll have a look at your activity and come back with a few suggestions as soon as possible, ok?
No problem I'll wait for your return 😉
Ok, I had a quick look at your blog and here's what I saw:
You have 181 posts and 194 comments, which means your ratio is 1.05. That is shameful honestly and means you don't comment on other people's posts at all. Please note, engagement is key on Hive.
With such poor activity, don't expect much. Make an effort, bring something new and interesting. Post in relevant communities, engage with others, make friends. Walking the same path and expecting different outcome never works.
I hope it helps.
Thank you very much for the help 😃
I really don't know about these keys and from now I'll work hard to make more impact on my own shoulders 😉
Once again thank you very much 🙏
You're really super genius 😅🤩
Thanks for the help
One more question!
Can I please get your contact where I can ask many questions ❓ haha
But today's question, Can I write a blog with using screenshots from my gaming account?
Thanks 🙏
No, you can't. You can ask them here.
As about Gaming, we have a gaming community, called Hive Gaming. They have a Discord channel as well. Get in contact with them.
Happy Hive birthday... wow, celebrating with Cohiba Robusto.
😂 y yo escribí toda emocionada cuando lo vi (no tienes Cohíba 😏) Te enviaría uno.
drawing, sewing, photography and I know you have a lot more to come because there will be Hive here for a long time, Erikah.
I will accompany you on your journey.
I hope so 😏
Thank you @nanixxx and NOOOOO I'm not celebrating with Cohiba Robusto 😂
Hahaha... I know, I told you below in Spanish. 😜😂
Happy Hive Birthday and Congratulations on all you've achieved on this platform🎉. I'm a newbie still navigating my way around this platform. Thank you so much for the guidelines.
Thank you and you're welcome, use them, learn how Hive works.
Happy birthday, God always comes first, I thank this window to know you and interact with you and many people in the world. We are two eating apples I gained a few pounds for the Christmas holidays, now the carnivals are approaching and the 14th of love and friendship.
Really, time is passing inexorably, we are left with only the good lived experiences. Receive my warm embrace from my Caribbean land.
Happy 6 years, My dear friend... it's @erikah hive birthday...🌺🔆🎂
Thank you @janitzearratia and for the nice cake too 😁
Unfortunately gaining weight is a real thing, so we celebrate with apples, those are good too.
Wow! Happy Hive birthday! I am glad you took the challenge and learned as well. That's all about life. Keep growing
Thank you!
Happy 6th Hive anniversary! I will celebrating my 7th anniversary in June and like you, I don't regret making the move. Hive is a lot more structured and 'fair' than the previous platform 😁
My first account is from 2016 August, so I'd have more than 6 years with that one, but it doesn't matter. What matters is the journey.
Those who know what value is, are here on Hive, the rest is on the old chain.
Happy Hive birthday @erikah 🥳🎉🎊🎉 6 years is grate! It is a pleasure to get to know you through your posts on this blockchain. Keeping up the achievements!! Best regards🎈🎈🎈
Awww, how nice of you to say that @mayramalu, thank you! Have a nice day and all the best! 🤗
Thanks very much 💐🤗😘
Had no clue my account is older than yours, lol! But congrats on reaching a new milestone on the chain girl! <3
I've been here since August 2016 basically, but that account is not active anymore and it doesn't matter either. Thank you my dear friend! 😘
❤️🤗
Congrats for such milestones.
I could be here for an year more if when I started publishing on Publish0x I would have started immediately cultivating Hive as well. But I decided to do it more than one year later. Lol, quite a "delayer" :D
Congrats again and enjoy your apple! Much healthier than cigars and champagne ;)
Thanks @mikezillo. I think we have a similar story as I have another account from 2016. But it doesn't matter. Lol, the cigar and the champagne is just for the photo. I've never smoked cigars in my life and wish to keep it that way. Champagne is for big occasions 😂
Congrats!
Your contributions do much to make everyones journey here a little more pleasant 🙂 And if we are celebrating I'll take one of those Cohiba
Thank you for the nice words Steven, I really appreciate it! I'm trying my best to contribute one way or another. Lol, so you want the Cohiba? 😁
Happy Hive Birthday @erikah
🎉🎈🎂🎉🎈
Thank you very much arcange ❤️ 😊
Since I've been following you, you've been a source of inspiration. I miss some of your posts, but I read a lot of them. I haven't known you very long, but your active participation in building Hive is a great example of your commitment to decentralization and freedom of expression. And that means more and more to me. Especially today.
Thank you for sharing your journey with such sincerity and authenticity.
Happy birthday on Hive! 🎂
Oh, this is a surprise, but thank you for the nice words and I'm glad I've been an inspiration for you.
Thanks again and keep up the good work you're doing. We need original people like you on Hive!
what a wonderful 6 yr journey, next month I will achieve 4 yrs...... and still won't have a clue about what this place is, crypto, HP, hive tokens resource credits et al, way above my intelligence levels . I just enjoy people and their uploads.
Lol, this is interesting. I had no idea you don't know those things. I don't think it's above your intelligence level, more like you're not interested. It's not difficult to understand it, but indeed, it requires some time to study the structure and terms. However, enjoy your journey as that's what matters.
yes I agree, just here for the journey, I think a lot is to do with the fact that I really am totally clueless when it comes to IT and stuff. It holds no interest to me, never done any of the social media stuff, just here. I like what I know and I know what I like I guess.
First, happy anniversary at Hive.
Second, I hope one day to have your seniority and your experience in this. Until now I still feel like a newbie and I don't understand much haha.
Greetings!!
Thank you! Experience comes with time and if you put in the effort, then you'll see results.
Well done and be happy always
Felicidades 🙌🥂 COHIBA de mi país Cuba 🇨🇺 bendiciones y éxitos para próximos años
Happy Hive Birthday! I can't believe it's six already! Actually, there are six years for me too but who's counting? 😅
I also forget about these things, I onboarded in this journey in 10-11 Jan 2018. As you said, different things back there. A lot of headaches for me too 🤣🤣.
Let's read the next annual hive birthday post together! 💓💓
Happy Higñve Anniversary. I have little time here, but you have been one of the people who has helped me and motivated me to continue creating content. I think that just as you say Hive changes lives, you do too.
