Seizure of Reality

avatar

There are less than 3 weeks left of this year. I can't believe it's gone. I'm not going to do a recap of the year now, that's for the last days (maybe). What I had to realize is that the number of exhibition available till the end of the year is very limited.

Today I visited another exhibition, that had the opening last week. I was waiting for this like a kid, who doesn't know what she's going to get. I love surprises when it comes to exhibitions and trust me, the surprise is mostly good. So let's start it, I want to show what I had the pleasure to admire today.

The exhibition was held at the headquarters of the György Bernády foundation. There were actually two exhibitions, one art exhibition and the other was photo exhibition, both very interesting. These exhibitions are free, which is excellent as how else can people learn.

On the ground floor, there was the exhibition of two artists, István Makkai and Gábor-Hunor Veress, called Seizure of Reality.

After greeting the lady, I had a look inside and what I saw made me say Holy Heaven! I hope it's not dangerous! The lady started to laugh and said I'm not the only one to ask that. Mysterious, isn't it? Bear with me and you'll see what shocked me.

After this scene, I took out my purse to make a small donation for the foundation. It's not required, but I want to support them as it means a lot to me and honestly, this is the place where I've seen a lot of amazing artworks. While I was doing that, I spotted the piece that you can see on the photo above. At first site it looks like drain cover you see on the streets, but it's not that. Don't ask me what it means as i don't know. I was hoping to find a plate with the title, but either there wasn't one, or I was blind and could not see it.

materia non amittitur sed mutatur

This is what it is written on it, which is in Latin, obviously and thank God, or wait, better yet, thank Google, Latin can be translated, so it means "matter is not lost but changed". It has the recycle symbol in the middle as well.

20221213_122657a.jpg

There were not many artworks, but the few that was displayed was very cool. You'll see.

20221213_122724a.jpg

Bronze sculpture from 2018, called Guardian of Dimensions. I'm not sure if I'm right, but it reminds me of a man with a long coat and a hat. I've been trying to remember which nation or era had this outfit, but without any luck so far.

20221213_122747a.jpg

20221213_122753a.jpg

This artwork is not new to me, I've seen it before here. It's called a grass tree.

20221213_122826a.jpg

Pillow's Dream. This is a strange one, but very original.

20221213_122845a.jpg

20221213_122849a.jpg

This one is called Message Sent and reminded me of those paper planes we used to make in elementary school and throw them in the classroom. I was wondering if kids still do that today, or they are busy playing with their phones or tablets. It was a fun game at that age.

20221213_122925a.jpg

This was also not now to me and might not be new to you either as I have seen this artwork at a previous exhibition and also have posted the photo I took back then (not this one). That photo has also been featured. It is called Sweet Burden and I love it!

20221213_122938a.jpg

This was also not new to me, have already seen it at the Art Nouveau gallery. It's called Essentially Tailless.

20221213_123023a.jpg

This was a funny one. It is called Micropolis. There are 3 barometers installed and it says in these three cities the weather is almost identical. What you might not see here is that the 3 city names are the same. Targu Mures is obviously the Romanian name, Marosvásárhely is in Hungarian and Neumarkt is the German name of the city.

20221213_123047a.jpg

And this was the artwork that shocked me when I first looked into the exhibition room. Unfortunately there was nothing next to it to be able to see its size, but it was big, trust me and scary. However, if you look at the details, it's a nice work actually. Look at those legs.

The title of this artwork is Bug, but it refers not only to the kind of bug you see here, but also to the listening device that is also called Bug.

20221213_123123a.jpg

This one seems obvious, as it's a curtain, but has a deeper meaning. It's called Quarantine and was made in 2021. I hope I don't have to explain what it means.

20221213_123150a.jpg

20221213_123201a.jpg

For me, this was the best artwork. It is called Homage. First of all the execution is admirable as those boots are like real. Village people used to wear boots like this and most likely they are wearing similar boots, made of leather. Now, what's the meaning of it? Look at the boot on the left and compare it with the boot on the right. The one on the left is polished heavily. Most likely the left boot was polished out of homage.

20221213_123316a.jpg

20221213_123306a.jpg

20221213_123323a.jpg

This was also not new, you might remember this one as it's a very cool one. Two half masks, one beneath the other. I have seen this at the Art Nouveau gallery. It's one of the coolest artwork.

20221213_123343a.jpg

Faith

Heart.jpg

Without any doubt, this is a heart and 10 minutes before entering the gallery, I got some bad news, one of my close relatives got a hear attack today. Then I saw this. Life is strange.

20221213_123525a.jpg

20221213_123539a.jpg

Have you ever seen such an artwork? I haven't. Do you even know what that big piece is? For those of you who don't know, it's a anvil, used by blacksmiths. The title of the artwork is You Don't Dare. And obviously no one would dare to loosen the rope.

20221213_123625a.jpg

This was a funny one as at first glance you would think the room is not finished yet and someone is cleaning. Yet, this is the artwork, that is called Pure copper.

Sooo, which one do you like today? This time I'm really curious.

I find metal sculpture fascinating... And since you enjoy art, I recommend a Cuban artist, renowned Pedro Pablo Oliva and another young, but talented, Gabriel Raul Cisneros (you can find him on Instagram). You might like the work of both of them.
Happy to read you again.

Oh, thanks for the recommendations! I'm going to look both of them up tomorrow. I like sculptures a lot and have been lucky this year as there have been quite a few exhibitions. Thanks for the nice comment :)

Amazing 👏. That’s some serious works of art on display there.

You Don't Dare.

That’s quite an interesting name😂. Undoubtedly my favorite I just have one question tho, is the reason why it’s hanged on top? I don’t think anvils are hanged on top.

Indeed, some serious work.

Anvils are not hung on top for sure, this is kind of a joke, the You Don't Dare refers to you don't dare to pull the rope as then the anvil would fell and smash you :)
