Out Of The Box
Today I'd like to show you some photos I took at an exhibition, that was out of the box thinking in any sense of the word.
The exhibition hall is in the basement of a new building. I wanted you to see everything as it is, so the ceiling is uncensored. It was a big surprise for me, but a very good one. The world or art is known to be irregular, strange, crazy, without similarities, out of the box, you name it. If you want to create something, make it outstanding, unique, even shocking as copying others has no sense. This basement is perfect in my eyes and it is set up to serve as a meeting space or conference room if you like. You can do interviews there as well, as you can see, there's a suitable setup on the photo above.
What can be more original than a space like this? I'm not going to lie, it's my favorite so far, for being huge in the first place and for offering plenty of room for artworks to display and visitors to roam around there.
At a better look, you can see that those pipes could have been hidden with a ceiling, but they didn't do that and it was the right choice in my opinion.
So back to the purpose of this post, which is art, not architecture and interior design.
The artist's name is Emőke László, architect by profession, who lives in Hungary. Just as the exhibition room, her art is very out of the box too and I love it.
My Grandfather
This was the first canvas on the wall and got my attention right away. Firstly, because I love red and this color was a pleasant one, secondly because at first glance I thought those white things are stars. Then on a closer look I saw it's a wonderful poem written in Hungarian and the highlighted letters read together mean the name of a village and the name of a person. It's the first time I saw such a painting but I hope it wasn't the last. Having a closer look at it, shows the uneven letter sizes, which makes it even more interesting. I'm not a huge fan of poems, but this is a lovely one by the way.
Dynamics
I bet from far this canvas looks like a mess but at a closer look you can see the meaning and it's very original in my opinion. I love the sequence of people.
Nyárádköszvényes
The first thing I noticed here was the nice colors, as I love the blue and green combination, if it's the right shade. Then the whole thing looked like a Google map from above. The title of the artworks were at the lower right corner beneath the canvas, so none of them was visible, unless you got closer and bent down to have a look. The title of this one was Nyárádköszvényes, which is the village mentioned on the first canvas. This was no coincidence, most likely the artist has a deep connection with this village.
Nimród 1
This canvas reminded me of a textile and fiber art exhibition, where there was a similar one, made of textile pieces, featuring several buildings.
Siblings 4
The artist has managed to make me smile with this canvas. Kind of saw myself and my brother, when we were at that age, thinking about and discussing teenage problems 😂. The big things of life, high school problems and all that. I could write a novel about those times and you'd be under the table laughing all day 😆. Those were the good times and therefore this would have a place on my wall for sure. I could look at it all day.
Siblings 1
Lots of emotions in this one, although you can only see half a man and an arm on his shoulder.
Siblings 2
Tagging @mipiano here 😂, she's the only one who can understand the writing on the canvas. At this point I don't know what it says, but as soon as I publish my post, I can get to solve the mystery 😆. Don't try to guess as this is more complicated than you think, but it's a fun game for us. It's funny that I bump into this type or writing all the time.
Siblings 3
This one can easily mean twins of the same gender, which is not rare. This is a series of 4 paintings, featuring siblings in a different way. It's a very good topic and I could write a novel about it, but better let you tell me how you see it. If I were to choose, I'd go home with No. 4 and No. 3, although No. 4 is what I can relate to.
Saturday Night Fever
This could refer to the famous movie from 1977, with John Travolta and Karen Gorney, or the show that most likely was franchised in every country. The difference I see here there are 2 men dancing, or maybe I'm wrong. Regardless, it's a nice one. The passion of the two dancers is there, on the canvas.
Yin And Yang
I've seen countless interpretation of the concept on canvas, paper, fabric, you name it, but this is the best by far. The position of the bodies, the green and yellow color the artist chose, the dark background, how the light reflects on the bodies, somehow everything is just as it should be. Look at the brush strokes, look at the direction of them.
Saint Joseph
We have users from all over the world on Hive, from every religion. Therefore I think I need to explain who Saint Josef is and why he is an important figure for many as what's obvious for a good part, can be a mystery for other religions.
Joseph was a 1st-century Jewish man of Nazareth who, according to the canonical Gospels, was married to Mary, the mother of Jesus, and was the legal father of Jesus.
Joseph is venerated as Saint Joseph in the Catholic Church, Orthodox Church, Oriental Orthodox Church and Anglicanism. His feast day is observed by some Lutherans. In Catholic traditions, Joseph is regarded as the patron saint of workers and is associated with various feast days. The month of March is dedicated to Saint Joseph. source
In this painting Saint Josef appears as protector of Mary and Jesus but of workers too.
The artist was new to me, I've never heard of her, let alone see her artworks before visiting the exhibition. After I finished watching the artworks and was on my way out, was asked by the kind man who showed me the way to the exhibition room, if I liked it. Liked it? Loved it! As I mentioned at the beginning of my post, this is really out of the box thinking and unique interpretation of things.
Looking back, I can see the dominant colors are blue and green together, which for me is a huge yes anyway. Another thing that can be noticed is people. The majority of the paintings are featuring people and feelings through them.
This is the first part of my experience. I truly hope you like these artworks as much as I do. Let me know in a comment.
Oh, I almost forgot, these exhibitions are free, no entrance fee is required. What could be better? I truly hope there will be other art exhibition at this location as I love it. Each exhibition room has it's own charm (and curse as well) but this one is my favorite by far.

Wow! Those are good paintings!
I think I can relate to sibling 2, I've done that many times when I was young. Mostly to grab something we couldn't reach, so we combined height🤣.
The artist must be a very passionate and emotionally driven lady.
And I must commend your understanding of artwork, I love your explanation of each of them.
Everything, including your write-up, is really out of the box.
Well done.
It's good that you could find something you like, or recognize yourself in one of the artworks. I tend to explain what I see or what I think and some of the photos or paintings are culture related, so there my explanation is needed, otherwise many would not understand.
How cool, really out of the box. It is very spectacular and ingenious that exhibition. Thanks for sharing it.
It was indeed one of the most out of the box exhibitions I've seen so far.
That is very interesting, an analog version of a digital map. but at a glance, we will know it is most likely a Google map in this Nyárádköszvényes painting. 😀😀
My thoughts exactly 😃
If I had to choose, I couldn't choose any painting because all of these paintings are very good, with interesting meanings and explanations. What makes me more interesting is that the building is uncensored, this is a very rare thought. This building is number one in this artist's thoughts. Thank you, my friend @erikah, who always shares your experiences there.
At last you liked it and found something that captured your attention. I'm glad I was able to show you something you like. Thanks for the comment and have a nice day :)
🤝🙂
Interesting paintings, I can't imagine how these great people could paint this spectacular.they really make me jealous to see some pictures of their work.
Some people have talent and incredible imagination.
This is really out of the box. The paintings are beautiful and every canvas has a story to portray though what I might have in my head might be different from the artist view but I was able to imagine different scenes on the different canvas especially the sibling 1 and 2 canvas.
Each canvas has a deep meaning and fasten your seat belt as there's more to come, just as interesting as this one.
@erikah You always visit exhibitions and there you always get pictures of very interesting paintings, these paintings look like they were carved directly on the wall after I noticed they weren't actually, but instead painted from paper stuck to the wall.
These are painted on canvas. It's difficult to paint on paper, unless you use watercolor as paper is absorbing the moisture and wrinkles.
Hahah, yes, it's a fun game for us ;)
I hope you solved this until now, I am having some important family happenings around so couldn't even come earlier to respond... 🙏
I had no time to solve it yet as life got crazy around here, but now I have half an hour, so I'll get back with the result soon 😎 (hopefully).
I hope you got out alive of the family happenings 😁

As usual, a complete report with amazing photos... I was delighted to see the work called "Dynamics". There is quite a demonstration of expression capacity. I particularly like these types of abstracts where there is a meaning projected very precisely by the artist... It is a type of plastic work that makes you want to look at it.
Thank you for a new visit to the contemporary art that is close to you!... ;)

You and me both! I tend to like these artworks better than the usual paintings of portraits, nature and still life. These artworks put you to the test and make your brain work.
Thanks for the nice comment Jesus, as always! Have a nice day my friend 😀

I loved this exhibit, especially the sibling theme. It transmits me many things, and accompanied by your explanation of each work I felt guided. Thank you for sharing 🙌
I think we all find something in common with the siblings series, especially if you have siblings. It's impossible not to.
I really like the exhibit. Everything right down to the exhibit space. I like the green and blue. I'm attracted to the bright colors but it also kind of ties all the works together. Provides some continuity even if they aren't in every painting.
This is a special kind of art and I'm glad you like it. Today, if things go well, I'm going to post the rest, which has more interesting pieces.
