Garden Photography - Part 2
Today I'm back with more garden photos as I still have a bunch that I have not posted last time. We've passed the middle of august and this may not be my last garden photo post, but there are veggies that are at the end, so I may not have another occasion to take photos of these.
Because we have plenty of space in the garden, we grow a few spices as well, usually the ones we use the most, like basil, dill and savory.
This is oregano for example.
And here it is, dried summer savory for winter. I see no reason why buy spices from the grocery store, when I can have my own, from the garden, for free. Besides, with the latest price hikes, it's more than good, if you can grow a few things yourself.
This was harvested and washed today, so it needs to dry.
Let's continue with paprika, as we have quite a few types.
This is a suspicious one for me. I gate hot paprika and whenever I see a small, round paprika, I suspect it's hot. This may not be hot, but it's definitely suspicious 😄
This is the long yellow, which is not hot, it's sweet actually. This is ready to be harvested.
This is where things get interesting :) I love to see so many peppers in one place. These are still green, need to ripe, but already looking good.
Look at this one, it's a huge one, that will be red I think.
And here is the proof that this is not a macro photo and the pepper is long indeed.
This is another type, that also has to ripe and turn red. First it turns yellowish, then red.
This is a miracle pumpkin, that's how I call it, because the seeds have no shell and this is the reason we're growing these. Those seeds are healthy and we're using the seeds only.
The rest of the pumpkin goes to George, which is the neighbor's pig, who stuck his tongue out when I went to visit him.
An this is me with my dirty rubber boots, chasing photos.
Grapes are looking good this year. Last year we had almost none, so there was no need to harvest anything. My dad had a kilo or two to eat and that was all.
Although these have a nice aroma, are not the best type to eat, these are for wine.
This is the best to eat. It's called "Zala gyöngye" in Hungarian. It tastes like muscat. Zala is a county in Hungary and the name translated would mean the pearl of Zala, which seems appropriate as grapes are like pearls.
The problem with these grapes is that you can't stop eating. It's so tasty, you can't stop.
I can't wait for these grapes to ripe. I think in two weeks some can be harvested for consumption.
The rest will be harvested in October and we're going to make some vine.
I could not resist and stole some. It's already god, but only the top.
And here it is, a still life of veggies, created to have as cover photo for my post. This is all from the garden.
And these are the pickles we made of what you saw on the earlier photo. Yummy pickles.
I took this photo to show you how you make the base of a pickle jar, but looking at the photo now, on my laptop, I love it! It's like a glass bawl lined with flowers. In fact it is savory.
Last year we had no hazelnuts at all. This year is different as there are quite a few, but there are problems too.
I have no idea why, but a few are dry.
But there are good ones too.
Last, but not least, this is my reward. It's a non alcoholic, lemon flavored beer 😂
Non-alcoholic radler? You should celebrate the great fruits and veggies from your garden with something stronger 😉 (just kidding)

Yeah, non alcoholic as I'm still taking some medication to clear up the sinuses. Otherwise I hate beer, so this is the only one I am willing to drink 😎
Oh myyy, how much love and effort in all of this! My dream is to have my own garden, for now just a tiny one, but your is a dream 🥰

Having a Garden is more like a blessings and the Veg's are really Fresh.
Though I totally agree with the inflation spikes point, gone are the days when buying Veg's were cheap and shopkeeper add some spices without costing anything for it.

Thank you! The truth is this is all my dad's work, I'm just helping whenever I can. This year less thought as I've been traveling and been sick for two weeks.
I agree, having your own harvest is a blessing nowadays. Whenever I go to the farmers market with a list to buy fruits, I come home with half as the prices are exorbitant 🥴

That´s some amazing harvest right there! You obviously give a lot of love and care to your garden and it now gives it back to you :)
Btw, little tip on the hot peppers. It´s not so much about the shape or color. I mean, yeah, the hottest peppers are usually red but you should rather look at their texture. The hotter the pepper, the more bumpy / warty it is on the surface. Look at this picture of the Carolina Reaper, one of the hottest peppers in the world. You can literally see how hot it is just by the look of it, right? :) I actually tried this cultivar. Almost knocked me down altough I can definitely handle more spiciness than most people ;)
Thank you for the nice words my friend :) The truth is, my dad knows very well what it is as he planted these. I'm trying to avoid hot pepper and I'm only eating the big ones. I hate hot pepper! Or hot paprika!! 😠

Hehe, you better do :) These monsters can actually even cause death from the anaphylactic shock. They are like little chemical weapons.

Τhe hazelnut is generally versatile! Of course, the young plants need enough water so that the nuts don't turn out atrophic! If I were in your position for the next year, I would pay more attention to watering it, perhaps, than pruning or fertilizing it! In any case, great post as always! You make me jealous and homesick!

It's nice if we have a garden like yours, because we can eat fresh fruits and vegetables from our own garden so we will be healthier. Because at this time in the market there are many who sell Fruits or Vegetables that are sprayed using pesticides. @erikah 😁

Thank you! Grapes are not easy to grow as you need to learn a lot, but it worth it. Good luck and I hope you'll be able to grow grapes one day.
